I like it! Very clean. The exclamation point is something I keep wanting to put in my sound effects and forgetting lol
Gives the text just a little extra personality.

And I can never make loud noises without an exclamation point. :grin:

@RedLenai
I do that too where I just google comic sound effects to see how they're written or get inspiration for what sound effects to insert.
And I like how the skinny letters look on the slashing one. It compliments the motion.

@powerplantanimations
I really like that glitch effect! I've been wanting to do something like that too.
It's very ominous.

I was thinking of taking out first since it made it look like Lilith was causing that, but I decided to leave it in because we didn't have much time to do it. Glad people like it tho!

AH!! i love, love, LOVE hand drawing sound effects! I often just make up onomatopoeias, and sometimes i get lazy on the fx design but i've got quite a few i am really proud of!
I take a lot of influence from Chris Samnee's work, and i've seen him do panel shapes in the shape of sound effects with the drawing inside the letters and one day i wanna try that too aahah!

I love these! They have so much personality.

Also never thought of making a panel in the shape of the word. That might pose problems if I ever translate my work but that sounds like too much fun not to at least try once!

tysm! and ooo yeah i could see that getting in the way between languages, but it looks real neat!

Write the word in a conlang and have on the side 'translator's note: [conlangsoundeffect] means "boom"' XD (yes, even in English :P)

This has sent me searching for the 'dictionary of comic sound effects' I compiled in an exercise book while I was still at primary school. I scoured my comics for the best ones I could find and listed them under alphabetical headings as I found them.

This would have been in the early 70s. The best ones were sourced from 'Look-in' - a comic consisting of licensed television strips based on what was showing on ITV at the time. Hence two I will never forget...

CLEEEKA! - the sound of David Cassidy's retractable ballpoint pen being used as an offensive weapon.

THOOOOM-BANG! - the sound of a coconut shy exploding in the vicinity of the Fenn Street Gang.

I'll post some of my own tomorrow...

Those are definitely unique lol

I feel like old comics got pretty creative with the sounds. I kinda miss that.
Webcomic sounds effects being the word for the action itself leave less room for confusion tho. It's an interesting evolution.

I love sound in real life, also a musician so try to incorporate them as often as I could in comic form.
The other challenge was to make the text not take away from the CGI visuals but be clear enough for the viewer, it's something I continue to experiment with in each new episode.

My fave so far was listening to a car alarm to imitate the variations they play. The car alarm blasts through the entire fight scene after the collapse of a heavy creature.

The comic plays off like an action horror console game so if your a gamer this one might be familiar

It's a comic where a handful of people including heroes are asymptomatic carriers of a virus that turns others into feral monsters, so the indication sound of their transformation is "Chrk, Chrk"
-as the infected person's necks twist and they choke up

In the recent chapter, I started including Music SFX - and additional inserts for people who can read music. The melody the character hums was from an old song I had wrote

Bonus:

This was from my 1st attempt at a comic I did years ago based on my home Country Trinidad, "Blaw" people used say back in the day "he hit the guy Blaw" haven't heard anyone used that word in ages so it prolly died out XD

This is creative!

The music notes are interesting. Not all sites can play music so that's a clever way to get around that.

@TheSingularitySeed many thanks for thinking it's creative and clever :pray:
Yep you're right not all sites can play music, would be cool if they did right?
Guess this way there's some element of the song, was cool when Tapas had the music option last year too. :musical_note:
