You know what -- I wrote a big long thing over breakfast and then I went, had a shower, and thought about it. I decided I'm too old to waste the time with this back-and-forth, so here's what I'm going to say:
A person cannot justify mistreating users who were well within the terms of service by pointing to users who were not. If the site had scanlations, illegal material, or other content against its terms of service, it is the responsibility of the administration of said site to remove. It is not a reasonable action to use the existence of these things -- which exist on every platform known to humanity where people can upload technically whatever file they wish -- to serve an administrator's goals, or to excuse them. They are irrelevant to the topic.
When something starts to involve money and careers, it starts into the professional category. It's fine to be a hobbyist, but you cannot take a casual attitude in a professional environment. It brings the environment down, and it makes it impossible to have professional dialogue.
It is, further, irrelevant to name names of people who were involved, because while I am acquainted with a number of them, even I am not at a friendly enough level to just contact them out of the blue; you certainly aren't. It would serve no purpose, and I'm not inclined to do so in any case. It's meaningless to ask, as if a list of names is going to suddenly make you believe and make you less contentious in your engagement of my conveying this execrable situation.
A privately-owned site can do whatever it wants, but that doesn't mean that it can do whatever the admin pleases without consequences or ramifications from that action. This attitude of aggression towards anyone who impugns the integrity of a brand, site, or business can only charitably called naive.
Excusing actions that did very real harm to creators is not acceptable. Dumbing down and "kiddifying" things is not acceptable, and it has led directly to the increasing infantilization of society. It is a socioculturally harmful act, and I have no tolerance for it.
Last but not least, you have the internet at your fingertips. If my account of something is insufficient for you, there's an internet search that can inform you ad nauseam on no end of topics. I, however, chose my words, names, and facts to include by what was directly relevant to you.
And with that, I am done with this topic.
