Hey thank you SO much for taking the time to write this! I appreciate it a ton! I totally hear you on the language bit! I wasn't sure how to approach it at first, but I've started adding translations in the later episodes since I've noticed some other comics have done the same! But the other poi…
Ahaha danke! I'm not really a beginner anymore, it's true! But I still think even people like myself can learn to ask and take critiques and reviews! I think folks here tend to be super rational and level-headed, so it's a great place I feel to get thoughts on my work. And thank you for the sub …
Oh I'm not expecting any responses to it so quickly! Don't worry! ^^ I have asked my readers in the past, but there's only so much they'll say and I don't want to force anyone, especially if they're just reading my work for fun :3 To clarify: I was hoping for something more in-depth so I know w…
Hi everyone! Hope yu guys have been keeping safe and sound during these really strange times! I've got ~dreams~ of making more comics, but I also don't want to sit in my echo chamber of self-doubt! I'd love to hear what you guys like about, or what you think things could be improved on my webcomic…
Hey hey! If you guys are doing reviews, I'd love one of Anfange! It's squarely in the Teen and up audiences, with warnings for blood, violence, needles/syringes and pills! https://tapas.io/series/Anfange
It's the complete opposite for me! While Tapas has stagnated, my Webtoons has been growing despite having a months-long hiatus! My experience with Webtoons has been a pretty positive one overall, but I believe my experience is very different from most regular users. For one, Webtoons regularly fea…
You can look into Medibang! It's free and it works on Android, iOS, Mac and PC iirc. I use it on my tablet to draw when I need to do sketches for work, and it has a cloud saving option too, so you can work on your drawings on a PC later.
Man I only had a buffer to last me a couple months after I launched (so 12-ish pages on launch, and then maybe another 20 to pad out the months ahead?). Truth be told I work best under pressure. I like having something to do on the weekends, and pages are just fun enough to do to keep me occupied…
Anfänge has a beta-reader... kinda! I have a few friends who I absolutely trust to take a look at my script and development and let me know if the story flows well or makes sense. Sometimes they'll catch things I might not, it's always handy to have an extra pair of eyes. I'm lucky that my friends a…
Social media manager here, and I've some thoughts... I'm not wholly comfortable promoting on Instagram, not if your comic doesn't have a large following or isn't known in some capacity. This is because you might get more eyeballs on your post on Instagram but it might not translate to views on We…
Another solo project person here! I wrote and drew Anfange all by myself, but I did have friends vet over the story and art to make sure it actually told a coherent story haha XD Anfange has always been a personal project of mine, so I don't think I'd be comfortable sharing it with anyone else …
A little bit of escapism is good. Life does get hard and it can take a toll on you if you're always trying to keep up, sometimes switching off the brain to do something fun and mindless is a good thing for your mental wellbeing. That said, I don't think throwing yourself wholly into the fantasy of…
I have my comic here on Tapas and Webtoons (which is newer and has a more active community). I upload to Smackjeeves because it was my comic's former home and I still engage with the people from the community pretty regularly. I also upload on Tumblr because that's where a majority of my followers a…
Welp, I use it as a mirror here on Tapas, but in case y'all would rather read my sad teen drama over on Webtoons... here's the link
IMHO it's normal for readers to stop reading for a while and then binge read updates as they go along. Even with updates like mine where there are answers and cliffhangers, sometimes it's not always enough to hook them in. It also really is the limitation of the platform too. Webtoons work best if…
I'm actually surprised a lot of people haven't tried! I've been using that technique since the Sims 2 came out and it's been surprisingly helpful when I cannot for the life of me figure ANYTHING out. I'd suggest Sketchup but as I understand it, it's not necessarily free anymore. Might as well get …
So! Because we're all doing comics here, let's get this out of the way: If you're doing backgrounds for comics, don't be afraid to try and use shortcuts or minimize the details of your background (half the time, readers aren't really paying attention to that. It's a great way to establish a scene, h…
Faith Erin Hicks actually got me into comics. I loved Demonology 101 but the one that REALLY got me into comics? An unfinished work by her called 'ICE'. It was intriguing, a little dark and with compelling characters, after reading it I knew I wanted to do something like it. Early influences were …
I use the Dashboard daily, this is usually where I check for notifications and subs and other stats. I use it mostly to upload and do the usual stat checking. I think like what @joannekwan suggested earlier: a place to sort out the notifications/activity according to type? This is mostly for com…
Hehehe it helps to have an amazing commissioner who had a stunning vision! You're so kind ^w^ <3
Oh man!!!! So I really love novels with haunting premises like yours-- that is, the promise of a mystery, thrown in with some supernatural elements and spirits and AAAHHHH! Anyu's an interesting protagonist so far and I'm interested to see where the story goes! Aaaaaaand here's my trainwreck haha: …
@hades OH DANG THAT'S SOME PRETTY DELICIOUS ART!! A lot of my latest art has been commissions ahahaha... gotta get that bread OTL [image] [image] [image]
I don't do anything too fancy. Just a vague "This is how they look like" headshot that's nice enough to post everywhere. I have a ton of notes and stuff that I keep to myself. Personally, I don't think everyone needs to make one for their comic, but if you're just getting used to drawing the chara…
OOF this is a mood! I have a day job in the creative industry, that doesn't guarantee a set time for work; there are days where I can consistently get home at a certain time, and days where I'm staying back late and working overtime. However! There's a little good and bad to everything everyone's …
Ah, the adage of "Done is better than perfect" rings true for me. It's tempting to go back and re-do a page, but I feel once you get stuck in that cycle you never actually progress to new pages... you just... keep redoing old ones until you're 'satisfied'. I mean, I don't think it's wrong to reboo…
Oof recently 28! I work as an advertising exec and even with that cushy titles, here be student loan woes! I work on my art on my spare time, what little I have of it, simply because it's a big passion of mine and I really can't imagine doing anything else! But life does throw some curveballs and …
Thanks so much for the review, friend! Backgrounds are a nightmare to do and I'm slowly trying to get better and improve on them! And ditto on the multi page episode issue! I wasn't really sure how to format or get everything ready for the horizontal scroll format initially ahaha but hey, learning! …
Hey hey! I think I've seen you around SJ? Your names deffo familiar! Anyway, since I've got a bit of time on my hands, here's a review-for-a-review?
Art Style You definitely have a good foundation in art and it shows, but I think you may need to brush up on your anatomy and color theory! There's …

Since I can't post my latest comic page, I can post my latest commission
It's an Elder Scrolls Bosmer!
Adding onto what @shazzbaa said: the one 'cheat' I use is to make sure that, whatever happens on your page, it should move the story along in some way. Answer a question, find a clue, have a revelation, showcase a character trait, as long as it helps the reader understand the story/characters in som…
