Wouldn't people prefer for someone to subscribe out of interest rather than to hit some predetermined number of subs they need for whatever reason?

I mean, sure, we can subscribe, but then what? If we do not read, like, comment?

I agree with QueenofBabyLoon-- but I love these kind of threads as a way to gain exposure! The way I see it, it's an invitation to subscribe, not a gun at your head.

I am sorry I came across as a b*. I often voice my thoughts in the raw, the way they are in my head, without going through the process of refining them so that they express the true meaning better!!!

I agree that exposure is GREAT. And we should try to get as much exposure as we can. I really meant that as a genuine question. People here love subs (who doesn't), but what good is a sub that has been given in exchange of another sub without any engagement on either side. It sounds like an Instagram/Facebook "like" fishing for another Instagram/Facebook "like". On some platforms, you can buy views, subscribes, etc.

I don't think you came across too hard! You bring up great points. I know you mean it as a genuine question-- and I totally agree. I want subs who actually want to read my story! I want them to be excited when the next episode comes out! That's why I want to make sure that I only subscribe when I actually like the story and the writing.

Not really new, but still under 200 subs so I'm still gonna promote lol. Like @QueenofBabyLoon said, I'm not a fan of the whole sub for sub mentality, so please only do so if you actually enjoy my work. I haven't updated in a while, but I'm hoping to get the next chapter up soon (maybe, possibly, I don't even know tbh). Anyway, feel free to check it out, and if you like it I'd love to hear people's thoughts! (Or don't. I don't run your life.)

The simple fact is that some people will be disinclined to check out a story if it doesn't appear to have much community approval, while being more likely to try a story if it has a bunch of likes and subs. Hence the need of "back-scratch" measures to help new creators/stories simply get the visibility they need to grow organically.

So...yeah.

While I do agree with QueenofBabyLoon and augustinestuart29 about this I will check out your work and sub if I find it interesting enough. And while I will not force you to check them out I do have two series I'm persistently updating at the moment for anyone curious.

Mine is brand new! Just released the first chapter of my first one! It's follow up of my comic, Frontier-0, taking place right after as we explore Captain Lily and her newly formed crew of bounty hunters taking on their first big gig! It's funny, it's got action, very fun characters and expands on the universe! Do give it a try ^^
