Can a left to right be perfectly mirrored for right to left with no issues?

I want to enter the shounen jump contest which requires submissions to be right to left. My format however is left to right and I'd like to keep it that way for regular online publishing. Do you guys think it's possible to just mirror the whole page and re-write the dialogue in, or do you think it would pose problem and I should specifically write the comic in right to left? I just started so it's no problem to do, I just don't like that format for publishing to an English speaking audience.

In theory you could be able to do that, but you'd probably have to rewrite parts of the dialouge (for if the characters refer to something on the right that is now on the left) and it's probably better to go ahead and do it, but read over the reflected version to check it.

For years American translation companies would just flip the images in printed manga for Americans to read. Some of the older manga is a bit clunky to read that way, as designs are backwards and sometimes the art just looks funny. You can do it, of course, and clearly professional companies do it too, but if its really important to you, I'd draw it from the beginning with the contest parameters in mind. Then if you want to publish for English speaking audience, you can flip it back for them.

Yup, as sarrowsmith10 said, American publish companies used to flip manga for north american readers. But from what I've seen, it's... well, not that good, some of the panels looks stiff and the flow is kinda weird, if you go and "reflip" the panels, you go, oh so that's what the author had in mind.

So I would draw em R to L from the get go, since it's a contest why not submit the best possible product? =]

some manga still flip their pages around when translated into english, so its doable. but bear in mind its a rare practice these days because it definitely can cause you problems (also mangaka likely found it really annoying). in theory, though, its 100% possible and worth trying.

So before you consider doing this you might want to keep and mind that a character facing left/right has a subtle subconscious effect on how we perceive the story.
