Can I get a vote on these logos/titles?

So, as I inch closer and closer to publishing my Webcomic, I discover I have more and more to do.

One such thing was to create a reusable title image/logo for my series.

I went simple and drew it with a brush pen in CS.

Then I made 50 odd variations and slowly narrowed it down, with both of my brothers.

I like the first one (as it's completely black which exudes the 'shadow' part of it very well) and I like the very last one because of how textured it is with the purple and black shadows. The boarder helps it to stand out as well, though you might try some other colors with the boarder? White seems kind of strong. It doesn't look bad that way or anything, that's just the impression I get from it.

Will the logo remain on a dark gray background? I like #1 and #3! I especially like 3 because the texture reminds me of smoky dark fog/smoke, and would be my first choice with a little more contrast between the letters and the bg

The reason I prefer the non stroked over the white stroked logos is because the stark white of the borders reminds me of sound effect text for onomatopoeia (SMACK, BOOM, etc). Perhaps try a different color, like @SynCypher suggested? Or experiment with the thickness of the stroke

Number 4 is the best but the white rim, I think is overpowering. try to reduce the size to a thin outline, or change the color to a less bright one.

the fourth, but instead of a strong solid white outline, try a soft white outer-glow

Had a tiny bit of a fan-girl moment there(Big love for Hellish).

No, the dark grey was just a neutral colour I picked to present all 4. Black would make #1 disappear and white would make #4 look identical to #3.

In use, the background would be a cover illustration or banner art.
I wanted a Title that I could just throw onto promo stuff

I see that now. At the time we were staring at them from across the room to see which ones stood out most. I guess standing out isn't always good? ahah

A softer glow could be a really nice contrast the the lettering actually...

I like 2 and 4, but I also think it would be nice if there were some sort of shape added either in the background, under, on top, or in the corner... like uh...

I added a flourish to both top and bottom of my title here, see?

I'd Lose the dash and just write it as "Shadowstep". it'll come off stronger.
and it's a good idea to keep the white outline because it prevents colorbleeding into anything you put the title on. so I suggest something like this:

I think if it's to put over other art, with white rim might be easier to see over all, but I also agree that it could be less thick to be less distracting since it kind of take away from the concept of shadows.

My #1 fave is actually the first. It's simple and much more impactful, but the dark grey background dominates it too much. The colour of the BG would have to change. If the background is imperative to remain the same, #4 would be my pick. However I agree with droidmonkey in that the outline is really strong and should be thinner.

@wrentemple Yeah I agree. The hyphen is used for adjectives, if I am right. If 'shadowstep' is a noun it should be sans-hyphen.

I like 1 and 2. I feel like they will be versatile on any background, more so than the purple ones.

Well it depends on what the comic/novel is about.

Personally I think the 2nd one looks the best but it depends on what the comic/novel is about and what mood your trying to establish.
