Just to clarify because I think some people are forgetting or overlooking this - there is a difference between wall posts and notified wall posts.
It's the notified wall posts that tend to get on people's nerves, mostly because there are some users who use that "Notify Subscribers" button for EVERYTHING. Making wall posts is FINE though. I mean, just the other day, I posted THIS on my wall:

Sure, some people saw it, but only people that were happening across my profile, and I didn't need all 2k+ of my subscribers to be notified of such a silly thing
If you make wall posts, you just need to consider what is important enough to put in your readers' notification list and what isn't. As I've mentioned already, stuff like merchandise advertising, announcing a new series, announcing a hiatus, etc., basically anything that may directly affect your readers or would normally be important enough to make as a comic in-comic should be announced with the Notify Subscribers button.
It's fine to use it as a status update thing, whether you're attending a convention, showing off cosplays, promoting a comic from a friend, posting random art, or just NOOT NOOT'ing, you just have to use the Notify Subscribers button wisely and appropriately. You do NOT need to press that button when you make a post, so balance what's important and what's not and don't clog up your readers' notification panel, because then they WILL start ignoring you and possibly miss what might have been an actually super important update.
TL ; DR You wouldn't notify your readers with a comic update that's just a drawing of a butt (or maybe you do, depending on what your comic is lol) so don't feel the need to notify them all the time of things on your wall that aren't "YOU MUST READ NOW" type posts. In that case, you can still post it, just don't press the notify subscriber button. Easy as that.
