Yes, you can turn it off.
On the home page, go to the "more" option at the bottom right hand corner. Under the section "options" click "general". Once you have clicked general, you should see "infinity reading" with a toggle button to turn it on or off. I hope this helps if you are not already aware of this.
I use my cell phone to read, so the instructions I am giving are based off how it appears on my phone. For any other device, if it is different, then I apologize. I won't be able to help, I am completely ignorant as how to find the main control in any other way. I just recently discovered this.
