Can you please tell me if I'm right about this, its all about appealing to your emotions?

What makes you like a certain show or anime is the kind of emotions that appeal specifically to you, so if emotionally you're the kind of person who really loves comedy then a anime that evokes that feeling of laughter will probably be a anime you'll love.

The same goes if emotionally you love action, a anime that evokes the feelings for that kind of stuff will be a anime that you love, especially if the art style resonates with you as well

Once the story and art style resonates with the way you are emotionally on the inside, you will like the show ...right?

I love action and I like good-looking anime-style comics. I disliked Solo Leveling manhwa deeply because I couldn't find one thing to like about it except the art style No emotions from it. Zero. Nada.

So yeah, it's about appealing to emotions, but it's much more complicated than "you will love every action of you love action".

Of course its all about appeal to emotion. Not just anime.

Same thing in politics. In any country or corporation, seems to be the people who can best manipulate the emotions that tend to get ahead. Doesn't matter if what they say either makes no sense or if they dont have a concrete logical plan of action to achieve the nice things they promised.

My friend, not really, it's a joke. Let me tell you about a show called Final Space, it was overall a good show that got cancelled a little too soon. The creator tried to fight for the rights to the IP back but it could never be reanimated unless... A bunch of the loyal fans band together to animate it. The creator however came out with a graphic novel of the series finale. I've asked the creator if I could animate it. He said it was fine but can't be monetized.

I'm glad you're thinking about this. The job of the storyteller - the service we offer to other people, what they're here for - is to engender emotions in the readers. It's not as simple as happy comic->happy reader, of course. That's the challenge of the whole storyteller discipline. You need to create a variety of emotions, an effervescent blend that constantly shifts and harmonizes like a good song.

In action stories, the writers usually want to create the feeling of tension followed by release, curiosity followed by satisfaction, usually in a rapid but escalating manner. Good action stories also sprinkle in moments of calm, sadness, or other emotions so that we can recharge before the next bout. The patterns are highly variable, though.

Art style matters. Color matters. Character designs, poses, dialog, font choice, narration, every possible choice that affects the information on the page should be considered for its effect on the viewer. In masterful storytelling, no detail is an accident.

I love many different genres, especially horror, realistic police dramas, sci-fi, romance and fantasy. I wouldn't say that "those are the way I am on the inside".

As others have said it's not just about ticking the right boxes for someone to like it, it still has to be well written and well drawn. I love Pandora Heart's art style and I SHOULD love the premice, yet I couldn't get past book one because I was so bored.

I think you may have understood things backwards. Genre preferences are more an "opt out" model than an "opt in". Some people will not want to read your work because they know they don't like a certain genre, or they'll read it and won't like it because it's "not for them". But the people you are writing for, the people who like the genre you're writing and like your art style won't automatically like it because it's in their wheelhouse, they don't "opt in" by default.

think more 'good will'
an reader is likely to give it more oppoutunities and second chances to appeal to them or make up for any percieved faliures in writing/art.

for example "cursed" is a fantasy story in the days or king arhtur and merlin.
i didnt enjoy the 1st episode but i kept weatchign all the way to episode 4 before giving up - despite the fact my face was scrunched in dislike for the majoiorty of watching - because it on the surface level appealed to alot of the things i'm attracted to in stories.

vs community. i'm not a fan of comedys, the tag lne "a comedy" isnt going to get me to sit down. but episode 1 of community was good enough that despite have very little initial good will from me i stayed at all the way to the end of the series. and the good will of the earlier season got me through the worst season.

also the question above has 2 parts in it.
1; once a story and art style personally resonate with you, you will like the show
2; the fact its the emotions, that will be what resonates with you.
(your also using the word emotionally very broadly so its hard to pin down exactly what you mean)

the first part is agree with, that once a story and art style resonate with someone they will love the show. it comes with the conclusion that something about the show is naturally connecting with them

but your predetermind conclusion, i disagree with.
why a show will resonate with someone is a question with a thousand answers. maybe its simply because it made them laugh or feel good. thats often times what "feel good" shows the likes of friends or cheers have going with them, they bring to them a simple joy.
it could also be you simply resonate with the artist skills. your not thinking of the story but simply admiring the amastery of art. it becomes more a scientific case study as you try to replicate it.
maybe because it ass a question your interested in even if you dont agree with the answer.
or its a mystery thta challenges you. or its a mystery that was never ment to be solved.

shows like schindlers list or the grey zone leave me nothing but uncomfortable and depressed, emotions i certianly dont enjoy or resonate with but i watch them anyway. and i love them regardless.

also, as warning, Emotion can go both ways.
think the ending of game of thrones or stranger things, that can retroactivley ruin something for an reader. cause now what used to bring you joy has this tremendous negative feelign attached to the end. a predetermind love for fantasy wont make up for the faliure of the writes to respect their audience, or their bad writing.

this can also coems back to my good will argument. people were willing to overlook the earlier season mistakes cause of their love for the show but the momment the writers dropped that. audiences rose filtered glasses came off. they went "yeah got did have alot of uneccasary sx & rp scenes" or "yeah strnager thigns always treated el more as an object with powers and less as a human girl"
