Chaotically Neutral Characters

Characters in your comics or novels who are considered or are Chaotically neutral. They're not the main villains and they are definitely not a hero either. They're either there to be to mess with the main characters/ villains and they prefer to obey their own rules and not by the rules of others. If they wanted too, they could have been heroes or villains anytime they wanted too. But that boring to them and they let someone else do the work for them. Are they there just to spread their own mayhem? Do they enjoy taunting the main characters? And do they enjoy being the Neutral party so they can sit back and enjoy the show from the side lines?

A really rushed reference

He helps out my protagonists alot but its more for his "mission" which even he doesn't really knows what its supposed to be. He just knows that it needs our protagonist's abilities of reading a book. He's kinda passive aggressive and very sarcastic(fly's over Axelle's head alot) and he generally doesn't really care what happens to others but since he's goals line's up with the protagonist's so he gives advise and helps them out.

Luffy from one piece is a great example of a chaotic neutral character, people just don't realize it because he's the main character. He's not a hero, but he's not a villain, he just does what he wants. Another example is the joker from fire force (not from batman). He seems to enjoy watching Shinra struggle while also foiling the plans of the white clad.

My main character if anyone is interested. I'd consider him chaotic neutral. He's an ex-gangster, but he's retired and a vampire now and just wants to have some fun and get pissed drunk.
