Character Rooms vs Characters

Me personally, I have a lot of fun designing character's rooms, so I've made 3d models (sowwy guys) of some of my characters rooms, and I figured I'd invite all of you to share your characters and their rooms and I'd do the same!

Oof, I don't have a picture of Kattar's room but I do have a description along with a picture of him:

Despite his struggle to move on his own, Kattar's bedroom is immaculate. His pillows are arranged like he measured the distance between them with a ruler. His blankets and sheets look like they were ironed into place. He has a painting of some peonies Alicia made for him hanging on the right side of his bed, and a strap hanging there too, to help him get out of bed and into his wheelchair. He has a desk against the left wall with his laptop on it, and a nightstand on the left side of the bed where he tends to put his phone, his GameBoy, and his laptop if he was watching YT before bed. Also it's pink. Like 90% of the room. The painting of the peonies, the peony pattern on his quilt, and his pillowcases. the curtains, the lampshade. All pink. But with green, black, and white and brown as offset colors.

edit: forgot to mention the mural of peonies on one of his walls XD. Also made by his gf Alicia.

Which app did you use to make the rooms?

sketchup and then I did a little post processing afterwards because there's some stuff that's just not worth modeling :))


I've been considering making a sketchup tutorial because theres a lot of stuff about it that's not very intuitive

Nice, I have been looking into sketchup, it´s probably a great app but I´m using sweet home 3d most of the time.

The guy is kind of a trash hoarder. Other than that he doesn't have a whole lot outside of clothes, a laptop, some furniture and his guitar. Probably would accessorize more if he felt more secure, but right now he's ready for any moment he might have to leave.

Their room.

I don't have a real good drawing of it, but there's just a bed and a nightstand with some necessities. They never really had belongings of their own, outside of a small box of photos, so they never grew any interest in having things. That, and their living situation doesn't give them the chance or finances to go out and buy things. If Julian were to buy or be gifted something, it would get taken away or broken, so it's just a set of clothes and a place to sleep for them.

Thank you! Yeah, it's color pencil, I'm old school. Never been a fan of drawing digitally.

I just would point out it's the little things that make your rooms more "real" and lived in. Rooms have baseboards. This protects the walls from vacuuming and allows a nice finish to the bottom of the wall. Don't forget plugs and switches. (electrical outlets). Little touches like crown in a living room/dining room brings a little class to a room. Most outside corners on modern homes are not square, but are "bullnose" corners. Upper end homes have frameless door jams. Mini blinds usually have valances. Beds usually have bedframes and don't rest on the floor. (where do you think the badguys hide?). The more little things you put in, the more it will seem a place and not a picture.

This is David´s room. He lives in a shared apartment. He has a drumset in his room
and a dartboard. His room is pretty tidy at the moment because he has a new girlfriend.
He works as a paper boy in a financial company, he is into video games and always
wears a hoodie. He hates his job but is too lazy to look for a better one. His friends
all tease him about different things and this is how I imagine his room. The room
is in an old building which had a chimney

2nd draft

Final Draft:

Maor is a young teen boy, he had his own room custom-built by papa's request. A attic-like “room" was made-- sewed & supported by the foundation poles. Everything inside can only be in lightweight-- mostly made in fabric & canes.

Maor used to like to draw, he had some artworks framed onto the walls. The big plushie was his papa's gift.

Alicia's room description:
Alicia's has a huge mural of an impressionist sunset on all four walls and the ceiling. Kattar helped her paint this about two years ago, and she's extremely proud of it. Other than that, it's usually pretty messy. Clothes she kicked off are laying in unfolded piles on the floor, and her dresser by the window has dead plants on it. She has long tuille ombre orange and red curtains, but those are often drawn. Her bed is usually unmade, and it's been a very long time since she changed the sheets.
