Hello there,

I haven't posted in this forum for a while. I see a lot of new faces. It nice to see it renewed like that.
You see, I was very active on Tapastic... euhm... I mean, Tapas... a few years back. As a received notifications recently, I decided to revisit the site and see how things had changed.

I had tons of notifications for comics I stopped reading, some I had never read at all.
The truth is, when I was active on the site, I would subscribe to comics to support creators but I would not always read the whole thing. Sometimes I would not even be drawn to the story. That inflated my reading list to over 400 comics.

It would have been impossible for me to read it all. Moreover impossible to follow the updates.
It was time to change this.

That's why tonight I spent over an hour, going through the list, sorting out the stories I had started, the ones I really wanted to read.

And you know what? The list fell down to 30.

30 comics I'm following. That sounds more reasonable, isn't it?

One thing I can mention, is that as a creator, having people subscribed but not reading actually hurts your visibility. The algorithm won't push you as far up the popular list. It's better to have a few active readers than thousands of ghosts.

Anyway... It was nice to pop back around here. Hopefully I wrap up my comic by the end of the year and close this 7 year page of my life. Comic creation is definitely a marathon!

Now what about you? How big is your reading list? Anything you're actually not reading?
Not to hurt anyone's feeling, of course....

Welcome back!

I have 126 comics in my reading list, of which roughly half are completed, discontinued or on hiatus.
Of the 60-something left, I read regularily around 35-40. ~10 others are read by batches of a few chapters, from time to time. That'd be the ones that I started to read when there were already several hundred pages published. The rest are comics I really want to read but did not started yet. I only keep a few at a time on that category to avoid keeping them unread for too long. I also have a pen and paper 'waiting list' for other comics I'd like to read.

I have sometimes removed comics from my list when I have unable to keep up with them. I always add things that I want to read, but sometimes I just can't keep up. There is really a lot of good stuff being created, and no nearly enough time to look at it...

Oh yes very true. So many talented creators out there. I wish I had time to read every single one!

My reading list was 8. I read none of them now. I think I'm still lingering around the community just because webtoons stuff goes on here too, and I moved over to webtoons a bit.

Welcome back.
If you unsubscribe someone but you think is good enough to other readers you can post it here the creator will be happy for a little promotion:

If you find a good one you will subscribe, you can post it here the creator will be happy of some promotion and maybe others will do it for you.

If you are to fantasy novels step by my here:

Oh a garage sell, very clever. Thanks for sharing. I'll try adding some of favourites there. If that could help anyone finding the hidden the hidden gem.

I have 130 subscriptions at this moment, I can't attend more. In fact, I have novels where I'm always various chapters behind because I can't get to the end before the author updates

I'm friend of doing cleanings every so often, but the big majority of those subs are from people that stopped updating, so you always have that feeling of "what if they come back? what if I unsubscribe someone that's really still working on it and will update one of this days?"

For now I have 109 and around 30% are still updating. I binge read them when I get free time... It's been a while and I do remember you being one of my first readers when I started posting here in tapastic err... tapas. I'm glad that my comic wasn't included in your reading list purge. The fan art you've drawn for me is printed and taped to my wall. You also sent me your character David in one thread I posted to make them appear as background characters in my comic, I dunno if you were active by the time he appeared but if you haven't seen him yet then he's in the background of page 330.

I have 84. Half don't update often, and most of the rest I do read. There are about a half dozen that I really plan to read, but some are 100 chapters long, and I'm not always ready for that kind of commitment...so I keep them subbed and get to them very slowly over time.

Hehe Yep! Couldn't unsub from the good old Uspeed! I must say I haven't read the latest updates but I remember I couldn't stop laughing reading the bonus conference episodes.

Thanks for including my character David to one of your pages. That made my day! I didn't know you had done that!

Glad you're still active working on your comic. I realize most of the ones I followed actually stopped updating. So much waisted potential probably because of the lack of financial support. I have a project in the backburner to solve that hopefully...

@Kimoisempai Wow 8 comics! That's very manageable. Great job keeping it low. Webtoons definitely has good content. Still haven't figured out their business model though!

@xabelmind I'm still behind on most. I think we have to embrace it. There's no way we can be up to date with so many titles. In the end it doesn't cost anything to keep a comic in your list. If you doubt about it... you should keep it!

@JRHoch Looks like the average is around a hundred! I might have to had some more! I like to take my time toO. We spend so much time on those pages... It's nice to go through it in detail.

Welp, I have no self control whatsoever and I have 395 comics in my library . I'm keeping track of most of them, but there's around 50 left for me to check. If any of those creators is reading this, I'm sorry I swear I'll read it when I have time :sweat_01:

I cleared my list some months ago and was left with 285 comics. At least 1/3 of them are finished or discontinued, around another third I follow actively, and the rest I'm planning on catching up at some point
