Greetings, talented artists!
Are you a talented artist with a love for atmospheric, introspective stories? I’m a writer seeking a paid collaboration to bring a heartfelt, reflective, single-chapter webcomic to life. This project is primarily for the purpose of learning how to write webcomics, something entirely new to me. Payment will be negotiated based on your rates and the scope of the work. I’m open to discussing milestones or per-page payments. I’m also happy to give the artist over half of any money it makes, if it comes to that. The story outline is complete and the script is done, requiring roughly 50 panels.
Synopsis: A wandering boy stumbles across a quiet fishing village where he meets an enigmatic old fisherman. Through a contemplative conversation, they explore themes of purpose, belonging, and the quiet beauty of life’s unanswered questions. The story is character-driven and atmospheric, blending quiet introspection with beautiful visuals of the sea, village, and a rugged coastal setting.
You, the artist: I’m looking for an artist with a style that can bring to life a quiet, melancholic tone, with an anime/manga style that suits reflective, atmospheric storytelling. The setting is a rugged fishing village at an ambiguous point in history (anywhere from early Medieval to earlier) with arid dunes, rugged cliffs, and an old, weathered village with a single pier. The project features only two characters and a handful of environments (mostly village exteriors and seaside views). I’m open to anything from full colour to monochrome with hatching. Experience with webcomic layout and storyboarding is a bonus, but by no means required. I have no timeline in mind and am happy to negotiate a pace that works for us both.
Me, the writer: I’ve created immersive worlds, and written entire wikis, interactive stories, and short stories, and am hoping to publish my first novel within a couple of years. My goal is to explore webcomics as a new storytelling medium. With my background in art, I can provide detailed guidance and feedback and help shape the story visually.
