Colored or black and white comic?

Hi everyone~

I'm going to start a probable webcomic collab with a writer (as an artist myself), and I was wondering which type of comics are generally more preferred by readers? Colored or the classic black and white manga style?

My art style is anime, many of you may already have seen it in my previous posts or on my instagram. I would love to get suggestions, especially from readers! Your preference makes the way

It depends on your art style honestly. Mine, for example doesn't look great in black and white.

From what I see on your instagram, you could do either one. With that in mind,
I'd say that you'd be best served using the style that is the least time consuming so your workflow can
remain as efficient as possible. If black and white takes less time to create, then use it.

In general, coloured comics tend to do better on webcomic platforms, readers here are used to coloured scroll type of Korean webcomics

What @Animefanka said. There's a chance for a b/w comic to become huge, but the platforms will prefer pushing the colored ones and the readers are used to them. I saw only a handful of b/w comics doing great on Webtoons and even less on Tapas.

Katie, it really depends on you. I'm a terribly biased person because monochromatic comics for me are traditional and I prefer them that but, however colored comics are in general more favored. At the end of the day the decision is completely up to you. I'd be happy if you joined the grayscale gang lol, but it doesn't matter which path you decide to follow I hope you're going to have much fun working on your comic. Good luck

Depends on the platform. Tapas and webtoons are filled with users who like korean manhwa so coloring your comic is a must.

Other platforms such as mangaplus creators are filled with users that love manga so black and white does much better.

You can still do B/W in tapas or webtoons but the platforms won't really promote you. If you don't care about that then go ahead and do whichever you like the most.
