Ok I think you;re still missing my point, which fair enough I'm running on 3 hrs sleep here so god knows how well formulated my arguments are... but I'm not talking about if a person Can or Can't learn everything about problem solving(in general), I'm talking about if a single subject can or cannot provide you with the opportunity(if studied long enough) to learn it all, and I don't believe it ever could, even if we lived forever and learned the subject to it's fullest. I think the only way to master that skill is through studying a variety of subjects.
My point is that you are tapping into completely different ways of thinking for different subjects of math. So ignoring an entire subject is passing up the opportunity to be forced to think the ways needed for that subject.
Yeah but you're contradicting yourself so I'm confused. Because on one hand you don't think you should have to learn an entire subject.... so I'm having a hard time understanding your differentiation between the two.
inresponse to your views on artforms: I mean I think there is a lot to learn about in other art forms, be it related to my artform of choice, or not. Pottery for example can be really therapeutic (meaning what I got from pottery has nothing to do with comic making, but I still found value in learning it). Experimenting with different ways to express yourself is just good for the soul.
AND again, you are but one person. School isn't designed only for you, it's for a wide range of people, so yeah they're gonna teach a lot of stuff because as I originally said, they don't know what you're gonna go into. If you're 99% sure you know what you WANT to do, you still never know what you're actually gonna end up doing in life. People change career paths all the time. Heck you could even follow through and in your 40s still change it up. You just never know, life in unpredictable.
And lastly, the thing about struggle. Sure maybe they see failed twice and toss int he garbage... but if you compare
Person A- Failed twice but passed 3rd, with person B-failed twice and never took it again,
I imagine they are gonna favor person A more. Cause they stuck with it and kept going.
