Comic artists who also write their comic: How long did it take to do the script and artwork?

It's hard to tell. I have a giant outline in a binder. So writing a chapter means taking a part of the outline, fleshing it out, sectioning it into panels and pages and then moving that to it's own chapter binder where I put the storyboard sketches and clothing designs. (Every single page characters suddenly have hairstyle changes or earrings go missing. I have the worst memory for that.)
So the actual act of writing is super fast. Only a couple hours.Finishing a full page of art is about a day of sketching, a day of inking, 2 says of coloring. Sometimes another day for special effects and texture layers.

In the writing phase right now, and I'm 3 months in XP (will probably take 3 more if I'm speedy)
while drawing I might take another year to finish it (I hope but 2 year max)

Writing the overall story took me 2 years, usually i have some pages previously advanced, but generally one episode of around 30 pages takes me between 2 and 3 weeks, i have like 2 scripts written beforehand and drawing, coloring an lettering takes me that time

I cant really give a timeframe of how long it takes me to write for my chapters...I usually write until I get to a point where I'm stuck and I need to let my mind freshen up. I'll step away for a period of time- then come back and finish the chapter off. On chapter 2 of my webcomic, it took a whole 4 months before I was able to come back and finish scripting. I was working on the half that I had already finished; I took a month break a few pages shy of my previous stopping point coz I needed to rest my arms- and finished writing the chapter while on that break.

On my current chapter, I took a month to work out some "in-between" stuff with the script- I had the beginning, but I was trying to hold off re-introducing the villain until the 4th chapter; I decided to bring back the villain in the current chapter, but split up the side story, so that I could keep readers locked in until the end(the actual villain fight will take place in Ch 4).

So far my chapters have been averaging about 40 pages- I do a page a week, so it takes about 7-8 months per chapter; longer if I take good number of breaks(which I have needed to because of sore arms/wrists/hands).

Blue Life I write and draw as it goes

The Last BL comic first 12 episodes started as it goes but has to be written fully now. The story design has been made within a week now the full script will take 2-4 weeks.
@Starlexic is the artist and will make an episode each week. The comic will be [spoiler] episodes long total.

I know that scripts are ”easier” and ”faster” to make. But the way I script is having a 24/7 roleplay going on in my head and is very exhausting but a fun thing to have.

The script for TNSTAJ I.T. took about 2 years to write and I've been working on the art for 4 years (up to 355 pages). Halfway finished!

The script for Candour took 4 months to write and I worked 1 year on art, went on hiatus, returning this fall.

Before these two, I worked on a comic super loosely for about 3 years. There really wasn't a script per say, it was quick gags, probably took 3 hours to write and then a day and a half to draw, ink, and colour it.

Art takes an astounding hunk 'o time to get out in comparison. Might be because we have generally more practise writing essays and research topics from school? Maybe?

for twaw each script gets written once the last chapter is drawn (though there are outlines before then) - takes me 1-2 weeks usually, though sometimes longer if theres lots of editing. then drawing takesssssssss 1.5 months?

I wrote "Afterlifer" as a novel that had three separate publishing offers, which all fell through. (My timing was crap.) It took one year to write the original novel and another six months and counting for the webcomic version, which has a slightly different tone and feel.

I write as I go - I have the overall structure of the story mapped out and some episodes I scatter through it in outlines. Planning before I actually started was a couple of months to have a clear picture where to sratr the story off for the next 6 months of drawing. Storyboarding a chapter and writing in the dialog for it usually takes 1-2 days and then I managed to average 20-25 pages a month, but am planning to slow down on that.
