Comic Book Recommendation with Romantic Subplot

For starters, I don't really read much comic books unless it really really piques my interest. Most of the comics I've read are superhero comics and Josie & the Pussycats, and that's pretty much just it.

I know there are a lot of really good comic books out there but I haven't really come across one with a strong romantic subplot (maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places?) that really appealed to me. The romance doesn't have to be the main point, but I'd very much like it if it's at least 'somewhat' integral to the entire narrative. I'd also appreciate it if it featured a female protagonist as well. As in, she's not a deuteragonist, but the actual central character of the comic. The romance can be gxb or gxg, I don't really care so long as the story and art is palatable! Mature content is a okay as well!

And to clarify, I'm looking for comics (paperback or web is fine). Please don't recommend webtoon, manhwa or manga! At this point I've already read a lot from those mediums but I want to branch out my reading list.

Not sure if any of these titles are considered palatable by your definition, but if you're looking for mature gxg romance that is front and center and also in comic book form, maybe try 'InSEXts'? Especially if you dig gothic body horror ala. David Cronenberg but with extremely overt sapphic themes. Seriously, the sexy stuff is just as graphic as the gruesome body horror. Also, the art is just plain gorgeous. And one of the two main ladies is a POC. And it's written/drawn by two queer gals. If that helps.

'Saga' is similar, but with a straight married couple and their child at the forefront going on an epic space journey (plus the art is fantastic and it showcases lots of sex and violence, yay!). 'Sex Criminals' is also totally not G-rated and it is about a straight couple that stop time then do the crime when they orgasm, and the other similarly super-powered individuals that they meet along the way. It is also rather sweet and romantic, if you can believe it. Aaaaand those are all the print comics that I've read in recent years that may or may not fit your criteria. Sorry they are all overtly violent and/or sexual?! The romances are really compelling in each one, though, I could take or leave the mature stuff .

These are all such good recommendations, thank you very much! InSEXts is definitely up my alley! Horror and romance in one comic? Sign me uuuuuppp. Googled the title and saw the leads + their maybe kid(?). This looks really promising and gorgeous and terrifying! Exactly the kind of things I look for in a comic!

Saga and Sex Criminals will definitely be added to my reading list as well! Speaking of Saga, I was already planning on picking it up in the future since I heard a lot of good things about it!

I'm unsure if my comic fitts your needs fully but no try no win... right?
Well, most of your desires fitt. Basicly It's about a strongwilled, outcast girl who plays the girlfriend for a poor little scientist from the city with mama-issues...
I think the problem is the art. I'm still learning and the first chapters... aren't good. Like, really bad... But I'm working on chapter summaries.

And here some much better stuff I recomend ^^

AWESOME, Saga is hands down one of my fave comics of all time currently, I cannot rec it enough! And I hope you enjoy the other titles as well, they fill my heart with glee xDDD
