The whole manga thing sounds like what's been going on here in the states.
I feel like people get into art through manga and that bleeds into their style.

that was exactly my case,
i started drawing myself and my best friend as manga characters when i was 14 also doing small comics back then too, Just recenly after meeting a comic art teacher who's totally against manga/cartoon/disney style i'm getting out of it! At first i was very uncomfortable with it but now i'm going towards a more personal style and i like it,

I would like to make it my career. I'm too obsessive to do it for fun and have other hobbies for that. My comics just wouldn't be up to my standards that way.
