@SynergyEclipse Ooh, nice stage. Thanks for sharing on Mastodon!

@Kelheor Glad to have you join the challenge again! Yeah, I've fallen behind on comics stuff lately too. Excited to see your black and white comic!

Day 3 of Comics Challenge!

My goal this month is to finish the last six pages of chapter 1 for my comic. They're already sketched out, so this week I'll continue doing a bunch of "inking." Which is actually kinda fitting since Inktober is going on right now.

That's very true!
You got a very nice inking brush here. Looks like the one I use for sketching. But never for comic lineart, because it's too soft and I make a lot of mess xD you have some really clean lines!

I finished and published today's update and sketched tomorrow's one, plus lined a couple of panels. Tomorrow's update has more going on, so I will have try and work faster.
Funny sketchy Yara ^^

I arranged a few panels, added the text and speech balloons, and modeled a machine that’ll be a prop in the episode I’m working on!

@Kelheor Thanks! Yeah, I like using "pencil" type brushes for lineart. Nice job getting stuff done. :+1:

@SynergyEclipse Sounds like you did a bit of everything. Kinda funny how us comic creators have to have so many different skills. Keep up the good work!

Well we actually got our full time autumn right on September 1st. The temperature dropped drastically and it's been cold and misty since hahaha, nasty weather honestly. It's very nice to know it's a good autumn somewhere!

Just published today's update and will try to sketch tomorrow's after a short break :smile_01:

I finished the machine I was modeling yesterday and rendered a shot of it on the stage, and a close-up of it. Today I added these renders and another to my webtoon. There were also two backgrounds that I rendered earlier and blended in!

This render is the machine on the stage. It’s a steampunk-inspired computer but has glowing buttons on it like a lot of 1960’s sci-fi computers! It’s a bit grainy because of some limits with Blender’s built-in de-noiser, but I can manually smooth this out when I add the line art and blend in the shading.

Day 6! Giving my dominant hand a little break and used my non-dominant hand to finish flats for some backgrounds today. (I work two pages side by side, and then later convert to scrolling format.)

@Kelheor Aww, hope you feel better soon. And yes, that facial expression is too good.

Started editing a rendered crowd shot to draw in the line art and paint in the crowd (the people were just rendered like mannequins) but now I’m experiencing technical difficulties! My iPad dropped connection part way through and I can’t reconnect through Sidecar at the moment.

Trying to edit what I can until then by cleaning up lines and paint with just my mouse.

@SynergyEclipse ugh, I hope you will be able to reconnect it with no problems a bit later! A mouse is too crazy to use for drawing, I know some artists who are drawing with it and I am absolutely shocked with the fact they are able to do it :see_no_evil:

The 6th strip is finished for today and it really feels nice already! Funny fact - originally I had no idea how Beleard's nose should look like in profile, no shape was good. I ended up drawing him a nose on the first strip, but it looked really unnatural. So this time I decided he won't have a nose in profile...at all xD

Didn't get much done today. Gonna buckle down and spend 20 more minutes drawing now though.

@SynergyEclipse Technical difficulties are the worst. Glad you were still able to work on it though.

@Kelheor I agree, strangely the absence of a nose actually suits him. Also, I love his coat. The fur is so big, but I love it.

Fortunately, I was able to complete the line art and most of the base coloring before my connection dropped! It’s working again now so I’m focusing on finishing that background.

Trying to do some cleanup and coloring with a mouse was tough!
