Comics with animation?

So I’ve been thinking about this idea for a while, and it might exist already, but what are your opinions about a comic with animations (small repeating things like wind blowing fabric and hair, tears wobbling, rain falling, stuff like that)? Would it be cool or distracting?

I believe it'd be cool depending how your use it. Your examples are fine. I use to do animated comic pages when I uploaded them to ComicFury. Then I found it a bit much when I tried cross posting to Webtoons and Tapas, so I abandoned it

A scrapped comic I attempted a few years ago was going to have elements of animation in every chapter, but it never really went anywhere after I scrappped it. Enjoy what I managed to write at least.

Animations are always appreciated in webcomics! Its one of the many aspects that makes webcomics stand out on their own from printed comics. Sometimes you can just bring attention to one panel with animation or even take a strip and make it a short animation. If your goal is to make it a simple background aesthetic, I think you would be able to pull off some extremely interesting highlights in your panels.

I've seen cases of both - cool and distracting. In the mid 2000's(?) Marvel or DC(or both, my memory is hazy on it, haha) were pushing motion comics(!) as the next Big Thing, but as far as I know it never went anywhere. But I know over the years I've seen a few webcomic-instances of it that were really cool.

I dabbled in it a few times, too. It was fun to do. I would definitely stress that less-is-more, if you decide to play around w/ it. It's a bell or a whistle - and certainly second fiddle! - to a good story and good art, and should probably be treated as such. But it can be fun! Have fun!

I think it's a very sick idea. It gives something more life to your drawings and will make for some cool visual effects. I myself am also planning to use animation for an upcoming chapter of my comic. I say, give it a try!

Love sharing this whenever I get the chance My mans hasn't updated in over a year but do check it out anyways, it's super dope. Animations were used sparingly, but when they appeared, they were so CLEAN. Highly recommend.

i love animations in comics especially when done well. it's obviously can be a lot of work if you're still learning but it's far from rare and hardly frowned upon that ive seen since it can really add depth or intrigue to the art in a work

like i always immediately think of comics like Vindicaris, Colorless, or Space Hop whenever the topic comes up so any instances of comics that do the same or similar will pretty easily get my attention (at least if it's in a genre i like or the style catches me =v=;; )
