I mostly just see comics with the traditional human characters set up in a modern or the traditional fantasy world and was wondering how many other creators out there has post/pre human, other types of characters and creatures in their stories. What worlds have you created? share your creations!

I create a comic/graphic novel with futuristic humans that have been physically altered over eons by fungal influences in an Earth that went through a cataclysm after humans created the "doomsday device". My thoughts creating this story were: whats after a post apocalyptic world? What sort of society would be formed? What types of changes would we see on animals and the ecosystem would there be? etc.

Here's my comic I am working on: https://tapas.io/series/CMAO7

Feedback and constructive crit is always welcome!

It is great when someone an interest in comics which go beyond the norm! My comic Terror Drive is set on a distant planet and features self-aware biomechanical machines as characters. I had a heck of a job comic figuring out the details of the world and the entities which inhabit it. Even if 99% of it is destined to remain unknown to the reader, it helps me to create the illusion of reality to the best of my abilities.

I will shortly take the comic off hiatus... I hope people will like part 5 :3

The Art Fox xx

Yeah! Sounds awesome! World building can be a pain its so fun when it all comes together. Definitely reading this.

reading your comic as I type this...

well not literally at the same time but you get the idea...

Really cool concept that I haven't seen before. Definitely like the anthropomorphic transformer feel to it lol. You do a great job with the backgrounds and the feel of speed in the frames. Just starting the comic but so far, very cool world. Great work.

I got all manner of aliens in my comic, Frontier-0 if you want to give it a look! One literally was an alien ell morphed into a humanoid which then became a space pirate! ^^

This is really awesome, thanks for sharing. Definitely following the comic. Also I love how you spaced out the pages and still have it in a comic/graphic novel format. :+1: The arts amazing. great dialog, and story telling.

Mine is set in a future where some changes in some humans are somehow noticeable (as well as the environment) yet that is left a bit implied only (long lifespans and abilities). I leave a lot of supernatural as mysterious as possible to add a surreal vibe.

Ohhh this is a cool thread!

Not sure if it counts since Star Wars has plenty of humans, but the protagonist of my fancomic isn't human, although she'd definitely humanoid. She comes from a species called Red Sith.

Well I mean if its a different setting then i mean sure go ahead and post. its not like ONLY if you dont have human, dont have a modern day earth, AND dont have a normalish story then YOU CAN NOT post here haha. na man, go ahead and post. I just posted to see if anyone had any cool, unique traits in their comic to share  OH and also, star wars is always welcome lol.

Red sith? that sounds awesome! Im a huge star wars nerd. Like in the new movies i was really hoping that Rey was going to become a gray, like ahsoka tano. That wouldve been so fn cool.

What do you mean by "normal" story?

My comic kinda follows the storyline within 2 of Star Wars the Old republic expansions, except the protagonist is my version of one of the Dread Masters, so it's a big old canon divergence with a big old side of obscure characters fleshed out into 90% original characters, and some eldritch cosmic stuff going on with the Force (the Force is alive and covered in eyes).

In short, the plot is gonna be, area woman has had enough of her evil god-level boss, goes to fight him, ends up leading a rebellion.

I guess I mean like a normal setting, modern day , school yard, football or whatever is going on. A pretty everyday story, not saying those are bad stories looking for more outlandish stories in the thread I guess. Scifi or something like star wars vs. the notebook.

I’m not sure mine will fit the bill, I’ll let you judge, my character is actually the concept of efficiency personified. So every time you see her acting or I retracting, you have to imagine the concept, not an actual character. But settings are either normal situation or conceptual environment...
It’s called Effy (stands for efficiency).

So non traditional human character, but still base in our reality...

ah, I understand! No, Bestia's Wrath is definitely close to sci-fi adventure than coffee shop AU lmao

Not 100% sure mine fits here, but it's about human-like species with superpowers and blue hair changing it's shade depending on their morals and bad things they did. Also there's some drama around mixed breed.

Also a small warning It's a long read and has various romance subplots.

My comic takes place in a modern fantasy setting and has several non-human characters, with new ones showing up in later chapters!

The comic is about a young girl that gets kicked out of an orphanage for her unpredictable powers and ends up getting taken in by a shapeshifter into a mish-mashed adopted family. she has to learn what it means to be herself, be part of a family, and uncover whatever the family's butler is hiding before its too late!

The comic has got aspects of modern fantasy, mystery, found family, and slice of life (as well as tiny bits of science fiction but thats far from the main focus). I'd probably rate it at PG-13 (specific Pages with PG-13 content are flagged as such in the episode tittles as well)
