So there is no way of completing a commission transaction through Tapas. You can accept commission work through the forums and private messages, but for actually completing a payment transaction, it's on you to handle that through something like PayPal or CashApp or Venmo.
And of course hyperrealism is an acceptable art form - that's one of the great things about comics, is it can be done in literally any medium, any format, any style, any technique! Hyperrealism is, of course, exceptionally time-consuming and is typically avoided in comics just because of the time sink. In an industry where people are paid a flat rate per page, the faster you can draw a page means the more money you make per hour. If a publisher is paying $200 a page for a comic, and it takes me 10 hours to finish a page in a comic book style, I get paid $20/hour. If they're paying you the same amount and you spend 40 hours doing a gorgeous fully-painted hyperrealistic page, you only get paid $5/hour.
If you're working on a project solely for yourself or with self-publishing in mind or aren't concerned about making money or spending dozens of hours rendering panels and uploading very infrequently, then by all means embrace whatever art style you prefer and really go to town on it!
Keep in mind that infrequently-updating comics rarely gain much popularity on sites like Tapas, where attention to your comic is driven by updates and page views and all. But again, if you're just doing it for yourself and you aren't concerned with time and money, then definitely go for it!
