Are you really unable to do it or simply you don't want to do it?
Because those are really different things.
You can do "heavy self-promotion" like this, it doesn't take more than an hour to be honest and I say it from my own experience, I usually use the hours while I'm still waking up or when I'm having a break to do it. Back when I was in school I used the recess or breaks to doodle something, advance thumbnails of fanzines or the few commissions I had, then either scan it or take a picture to later work on it on my pc. Of course and again, seeking to optimize and make the workload less by seeking shortcuts on it.
Instagram and Facebook are linked through Meta Business, so you can post in two places at the same time with just one click. You copypaste the description and do the same for Twitter, Discord, Tumblr or other extras, including here (just removing hashtags when needed). Same copypaste can be done to FB groups.
And, to be fairly honest, even your
you're not being honest, you're still making self-deprecating commentary that is probably naturalized without you realizing it.
Sharing your works can be done in an honest way without looking arrogant or "in someone's face" you just need to find the right words. And regardless of your intentions or wanting commissions, self-deprecation is not going to do any good for you, just would make you look like a deer with a neon sign in hunting season.
A lot of people don't even put a whole big effort into the description of their posts, some just put the name of the character or a tiny thing they liked about the drawing or the concept, or simply "quick draft" and so on, not too complex.
But the thing is simple... if you want to do commissions and have the spare money then... figure out what you can do about it, how can you administrate and balance your priorities and responsabilities while still trying to achieve your secondary goals. How much can you squeeze and exploit the dead time between priorities and so on.
To me, if you have no tablet, no internet, no cellphone nor pc, notr notepad, nor pencil, nor a public computer with scanner in the library or school nearby, then that's how you Can't be able to do those things. But of course, this is just me because I'm an overachiever both in the good and bad sense.
