Well I guess I read it and liked it enough to sub too! I'm intrigued by Maritza and where her powers came from and look forward to reading more.

Fantastic thread you got here, Eloquent! Thanks for the opportunity! Call me Howell. I was originally an English teacher living in Beijing, China. Now I'm in the US, working on my Master's degree in 2D Animation/Storyboarding. But I just love writing and drawing!

Lemme ask you folks: What do you get when Looney Tunes, with a penchant for cult monster movies, puts their hands on a Japanese anime? You'd get my novel, Frightful & Delightful.

The good news is, as of today, the first book of my novel series has finally been fully published on Tapas! Frightful & Delightful was a contestant for the July Writer's Camp of 2018. It's a novel first, but now that it's fully online (completely a free read), I can finally do what I've always planned it to be: make it a multimedia novel! There will be (more) illustrations, comic strips, and even animations and music/sound. This has been a pet project of mine for ten years, now, and I'm so stoked that it's finally reached its first major milestone!

Frightful & Delightful is the first adventure of the Long-Lost Youth Chronicles. Here are the details:
"Welcome, human, to Hallows Earth! A Halloween/Mardi Gras planet stuck in the Industrial Age, and it's your one-way ticket to see how three monsters managed to toss this whole world into absolute chaos. Who're the three culprits? Elisabeth, a nun-to-be forced into the role of the spider princess; Graffiti, a street-art revolutionist stuck in a vampire's street gang; and Grampa Kel, a beloved politician running from his past."

And yes, I TOTALLY DO WANT CRITICISM! I welcome it! For you see, my novel covers difficult topics that many teenagers face nowadays: social injustice, gender identity, body shame, question of faith, future careers, family dynamic, crushes, a ghostly teacher who won't stop haunting if you didn't do your homework--I mean, what? Anyway, I've done as much research as I could, but I know there's still more room for learning and improvement. If you're reading and you see a discrepancy in a represented culture/faith, please let me know so that I may fix it! (I also totally welcome edits and flow suggestions. I, too, am an editor, so I completely believe in the value of criticism.) Definitely keep the dialogue open! Because in the end, I want the message of my novel to be absolutely clear: No matter how much of an outcast you feel like you are, you will always have a family who'll stand by your side, whether they be family by blood or by bond!

Here's some pictures in the book so far!

Thanks for hearing me prattle! Check out the story, if yah'd like.

OH MY GOSH!! R.E.G.!! It's been so long, man! I was wondering how you and the other Tapas writers were doing. I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. :frowning: But I'm so glad to see you're back in action! Your previous book was phenomenal. I can't wait to read your new one!

You're fine!

For whoever posts next, just make sure you're reading @kybrehowe's so they get at least one interaction. If the thread goes silent for long enough, I'd be happy to read because I love the style, but I don't have another series to promote so I want to give others a chance.

See I’ve been on this thread for HOURS because I wanted to join then left the tab up and circled back to it. Somehow I thought I could read fast enough then come back instead of dropping my little blurb THEN reading

Yeah it's always better to just claim your spot, drop your link, and then read haha! You can review on here if you like, but it's more important to leave comments on the work imo. But that's okay! It's a learning experience

Ok, take two :clapper:

Ok so this is my first novel I’m publishing  it is a BL, fantasy, drama. And I know with BL a number of plot points can ensue and it’s not everyone thing BUT with my story I heavily wanted to focus on the themes of second chances at life, not being confined to societal standards and choosing our own paths rather than the ones set out for us. And all that’s wrapped in a dramatic coming of age story with my beautiful boys falling in love as the cherry on top! There will be more but that’s the main take away.

I like BL (obviously), but I also REALLY love horror, suspense, psychological thriller type stories. Comedy and slice of life are my jam too. And super whimsical fantasy

Feedback is encouraged! I will say whoever reads mine should do the whole prologue or just the episode after that.

Ok I’m done :joy:

I would like to read a horror manga or any type of manga in Spanish language. Please tag me if you have made one of those. however, I want a synopsis cause I'm not interested in plot-less manga.╰(✧∇✧╰):sparkles:

I read yours. I love it! I really like the prologue, it kind of reminds me of Are you Afraid of the Dark. Good visual language that really draws you in and the characters are lively with the first chapter

D'aw, thank you so much! Yeah, I'm hoping to add more pictures to the chapters over the next few weeks. And I'm so glad it reminds you of Are You Afraid of the Dark, because that's totally the vibe I'm rolling for. Haha!

I have no idea where this thread left off, but if no one claimed your story yet I'm down to read it. I'm up for gushing over a BL story.

My story is also a novel, and I know that's not everyone's thing but the idea started because I wanted to make a graphic novel and didn't feel confident enough yet. It's a fantasy, action novel with multiple POV characters and I'd love feedback on it.

Summary: Right when Suri McAllister had decided to live, someone named Phoenix decided that she needed to die. With the help of some powerful beings who call themselves Troupe Members, she now has to fight for her choice. What did she have that was worth being killed for anyway?

I'll check yours out, please give my a look at well. It doesn't have many chapters, but I think its interesting.

I just read MAO reborn. It felt like you just posted an english translation of a manga in webtoon. The fact you actually manage to capture the essence of a japanese manga is pretty impressive. Srry, i can't comment, or leave a like at your webtoon since i don't have a webtoon account, and i have trouble verifying my account there. But i hope this is good enough.

I'm a huge fan of comics (and making comics) My favorite kind of manga/comics are sci-fi, supernatural, action comics. Mostly ones that involve super powers and psychological thriller (e.g. AKIRA, Mob Psycho 100) And it's reflected on my webcomic.

I just caught up with @DukeOfOool and @Ramonkey 's comics, I definitely recommend both. I'm such a slow reader when it comes to catching up but I'm enjoying myself so much.

I also caught up to @DaphnePanda 's, which I also recommend ! Next on my list fo finish is @ivanskilling 's!

Whoever posts next, you're up to check out @Bobsheese's , above me !

@Bobsheese Super unique story & art!! Definitely keeping an eye on your comic. I could forreal see it being turned into an anime!

@Fuya_Ryufaei My comic is a horror/thriller~ (and so is Bobsheese's!)

I like all genres honestly! My favorite is comedy lol (maybe because I usually draw horror).
