Hi guys!
I'm getting to a point in my comic where it's going to take a bit of a darker turn. It's been, for the most part, pretty tame so far. I'm wondering - for pages and scenes that deal with the topics I'm about to mention, what kind of warning should I use? I've talked to a few people about it, including people who have had experiences related to the topics I'm mentioning. Some have said it doesn't need a warning at all, whereas others said it would be good to include a caption above the page about the topic being mentioned.
My main characters' parents are very obsessed with vanity, and have been putting pressure on her to live up to their standards. She had to look, and act, according to what her parents wanted. Her mom, in particular, put her through a lot of stress. This included putting her on a strict (and unnecessary) diet. The main character is revealed to have a lot of body image issues, and is constantly fighting between what her mom's expectations were, and what she personally wants.
Body image and the pressure to conform are topics that will be explored in my comic, and because my MC is from a society where everyone is expected to be perfect all the time, it may get quite unsettling. It will also deal with a couple of other sensitive subjects as more is learned about other characters and their pasts, such as verbal abuse, and teenage drinking.
What kind of content warnings would you suggest I use for topics like these? Mature filter, caption on/above the page, warnings in the comic description?
