Countdown to next Writers Camp... who’s binge writing?

The next Writers Camp is just around the corner and I’m currently binge writing my entry. It began life a while ago and has sat on my hard drive untouched for a while. I had a burst of inspiration and decided to pull it out of hiding.

The thing is, I actually picked it over an idea I already had all written out. With just a minimal bit of polish, it would have made things a bit easier on me this time around. Ah, why do I insist in making things harder for myself?

Who else is binge writing their entry? Or, do you already have it all written out, polished, and ready to go?

I wouldn't say I'm binge writing but I knew my entry was going to be longer than the minimum required amount so I wanted to make sure I had a good chunk done before the Camp actually started. Especially since I have other stuff that I'm still working on. At this point I'm probably going to slow down quite a bit and work on making edits to what I already have and make sure it's good to go.

I wrote the minimum. I have more but this week I'm going to focus on polishing the 10 episodes. That is if I change my mind into participating because I am in a period where I am doubting myself a lot. But I'll see...

What?! But you're great! You should definitely enter

Quite frankly this writers camp is getting more and more nerve wrecking by the second. There is a lot of people participating and my self-doubt came back from its vacation like “hey dude! What some tears and despair?”

Technically I am binging because I have to kinda put on hold my main project just to do this one.
Recently finished chapter 2 though, out of 10. Yep. This is gonna be some fun week for me.

Thank you, Peni. I have confidence with the idea of my story, but not with my writing. With english not being my first language, I feel like I write like a child and it gets me mad. But I will roll with it somehow

ohhh! English is also not my first language! so I get what you mean! I also feel I write like a child or like, I can't be as fast as I want to because I don't know the words.

but hey! here I am I want to participate anyway! and if I can even though my world is on fire so can you! ;D

Thinking of it more as an opportunity to improve instead of focusing on the competition part of it. I have no expectations of winning but it's all the about the ride.

Oh, I don't have that expectation either. My goal is to be finally chosen in noteworthy category. I have small goals lol

My goal is to eventually reach 250 subs somewhere so I can get tips! Therefore, become a professional beggar – just what my mom expected me to be when I got my degree!

I had that goal too, but I found I was constantly disappointed. Though I'm betting you'll be better off than me

My entry is only about a paragraph or two long right now. So much personal stuff has happened over the past few weeks, so I've been distracted.

But hopefully I can get a good chunk done this week.

Due to my lack of popularity, I'm sitting this one out again and waiting until I at least finish my last milestone.

I have two episodes because I kept forgetting to work on it. Will try and make an episode for every day of the contest tho.

Hmmm....Yes and no for me. Yes, I am binge writing, but I started the story a long time ago and I'm only 'binge writing' to make more updates during the Writer's Camp.

And also if ya'll are binge writing get Grammarly to check your spelling, sentence structures, and even vocab. They have it available for Microsoft Word and yes, it is free.

(There's also a premium package, I ain't payin $11.66 a month for that....I'll take my chances with the free version..........for now )

I should be doing that. I've wasted all my time with overly detailed character profiles and an equally extensive rundown of world history and politics since it's a high fantasy novel.

And yet, on a rare day off from work, I'm taking a short break from an addictive videogame and considering just submitting something I've already started and pushing this glorious idea back another few months

Not it! I have a fair amount of background and research materials that I want to read before I pound out an outline. Working title is Breach World: Something Something. That should indicate how little of a plan has actually been established thus far.

Same here. I wanted a bit of a buffer before the camp starts. Like you, I think it’s time to start the editing stage on what I’ve got so far.
I’m already past the chapter and word count requirements, but the story will run longer, so like my entry for the first Camp, it’ll continue after this Camp ends.

I know the feeling. I keep doubting myself with this story, thinking I should just go with one I mostly have finished already. Floundering seems to be second nature for me...

I agree with Peni, though! You should definitely enter!
