Country Availability in Webtoon

So i'm from Indonesia, and i've been wanting to publish my own series, there's no episodes up yet but i need to understand how the country availability works. So, if i post a series fully with Indonesian language, does reader from any other country still be able to read my comic, or is it strictly just a single country or perhaps neighboring countries, also, if its in indonesian, do i as the publisher need to provide the english version, or will it eventually translated to english?

again, im pretty much new to these things, and since Webtoon also didn't make this clear enough from me

Hi,

It depends on which site you are using. I believe webtoon has different versions and has different featured comics depending on the region.

For example, https://www.webtoons.com/en/ is the US-based version, but they accommodate english webtoons internationally.

Now https://www.webtoons.com/id/ is Indo-specific, you can post your Indonesian comic here but it will only be visible to users in Indo (or if they are using VPN which marks their location to Indo).

I think you will also need to translate your webtoon to english by yourself or hire a translator of your own, unless you are featured.

There is a webtoon translate section https://translate.webtoons.com/translate but it is only for original comcis for creators who allowed translaion for their comics.the list of comics available for translation is quite small. i've seen alot creators just publish 2 versions of their webtoon here on tapas

so id is indo-specific? that's a shame, i tried opening up the https://www.webtoons.com/en/ but when i open up my dashboard, it leads me back to the https://www.webtoons.com/id/ version, so it seems there's no way for my work to be published and or visible outside my country, at least for now there's no way of doing it

It seems your English is great, so maybe try to translate it and publish through VPN? I mean, I bet English speaking audience is much bigger

They are a newer website so they don't have an audience like Webtoon or even Tapas yet, but they do have the option to publish in different languages.

Yeah, i agree with the previous person, you can try to publish through a VPN, or you can probably send a translated ver to your friend overseas. (This might not work but have you tried manually typing in webtoon.com and adding '/en'? Does it still bring you back to id website?)
