G'day Kindred! I am Solomon J. Twiggs: scribe, story analyst, and founder of Bifrost Creative Ventures Ltd. I've put my personal writing projects on hold to focus on building this business, as this plague has proved we need new powers to challenge corporate media.
More on that in a bit. First, I'd like to make it clear what sort of talent we need.
Stable Artistic Jobs
Out of the gate, we'll have a primary project and a secondary project. The primary is a 2.5D beat-em-up game with planned release in the summer or fall of 2021. The secondary is a working-class superhero comic for both Tapas and print release. Which projects get our focus will depend on what partners and resources we get first, but I expect to need at least 3 artists: a Character Designer, an Environment Artist, and an Effects Artist.
All of these roles will pay a minimum $2,250 USD per month for 30 working hours per week. Schedules are flexible so long as prenegotiated deadlines are met. Pay rate will rise with our resources (again, more later), and I will soon be looking to add 2 2D Animators for short animation projects. I don't have a toolset preference, but all who work together directly should agree to use the same software.
I have a wealth of IP to develop, so there'll be no shortage of work going forward. The part-time schedule should also leave you time to advance your personal pursuits. The more successful we are, the more jobs will open for artists, writers, and more. Bonus points for applicants with experience in retail, gaming, hospitality, or customer service.
So that's what's on the table. Now here comes the catch:
Gondor Calls for Aid
To provide these jobs, we need help getting eyes on this call-to-action article. It's a five-minute read, and I hope the above will convince some of you to take a look.
TL;DR: I'm Black, I'm bi, and I'm building a multimedia cooperative that will empower disenfranchised creatives and won't fire employees en masse mid-disaster.
I'll be working on a companion video this week to reach as many people as possible, but I'm sure Bifrost will get the support it needs if the Plan circulates widely enough. If the truth I share there resonates with you, please try to share it around. I'm doing my best within my network and on Twitter, but I can't do this alone.
If this doesn't work, I'm not sure how I'll pay my rent next month
. But if it does, it'll create careers for far more than six of us. Collectively crowdfunding jobs for ourselves is our best path forward as creatives; as "Plan" points out, existing pathways to success are plagued by potholes.
Final Word
Interested applicants should submit cover letters, portfolios, reels, and time zones to info@bifrostcreative.com. Follow the Plan to Bifrost's Patreon, and you'll see how the goals chart our growth. For those who don't want a job, I still have an offer for you: patronize Bifrost at the $1 tier, and you'll get a benefit from each tier above it.
Specifically:
- A copy of the concept document outlining 6 of my 13 video game IP.
- Access to Valhalla, Bifrost's Discord server, where we can discuss the above and more.
- 1 free Concept Construction. ($80 value. Transferable: gift to a friend or fan! View some of my sample analyses in the Coverage folder here.)
To claim these, join the Patreon and email info@bifrostcreative.com with a mention of this post, your Discord handle, and the materials you'd like reviewed (if applicable).
These offers and openings aren't Tapas-exclusive, but I wanted to share them here first. I hope it's clear that my goal is to increase creative opportunities for all of us here and beyond. We have unprecedented opportunities to disrupt the industry status quo. Given how cruel these industries get, I bet many are eager to see that.
Thanks for taking the time to consider joining me in this quest
. I look forward to finding ever more means to advance our artistic ambitions!
