I think Chili and Texas like each other because they have a lot in common, but play off each other well helping each other to become their best selves. Chili is more tough love and Texas likes to baby and coddle people, so they balance each other out well.
Verner and Therese like each other because they have a lot of shared experiences and things in common. They met in their teens and have been there for each other through a lot of tough times, so they feel like they can always count on each other no matter how things go in the future
Christopher is first drawn to Mora because of her blue eyes. He can't explain why he's so drawn to blue eyes, but they always stand out to him. Hers are a very pale blue that kind of makes you want to keep looking at them because they almost seem to disappear into the whites.

Verner also likes Therese because she reminds him of a red fox and a rustic little country fairy/flower (same difference)
