Dealing with reposters, stealing and etc

This isn't happening to me but I'm looking at amazing artists that I follow on Twitter and I'm at a loss. I suppose when the scale is small you can report to the admin of social media whenever someone steals or reposts your art, but when so many people are posting without permission, what do you do? After following these artists and seeing all their efforts to stop the stealing and reposting, it's like at one point all an artist can do is just let it happen, and this is so unfair.

An artist posting art is NOT permission for viewers to do what they want with it. Seeing "if you don't want people to repost it then don't post it in the first place" makes me so upset. Some of my favorite artists are even considering removing themselves from online. They shouldn't be forced into a corner like that.

If any of you are going through this, how do you deal with this problem?

instagrammers are the worst offenders. theyre so fucking rude man, they always either block me or say 'whyd you post it if you dont want people stealing it sweaty ;^))))' or 'eveeryone is posting this so it obviously means its ok'

then i file a takedown and give them a strike on their accounts ;^)))))))))

good man, take them down till they bleed, the sad thing is they are like a hydra cut one down and 7 will come out -_-, I'm lucky that I haven't had to deal with this yet

It has happened so much for a lot of artists and friends that I know (especially if it's a fanart) that they have all just given up at this point. Even when it comes to places stealing their art, printing it off and selling it at conventions.

It's just an endless battle that they can't win, and over the years they have all given up.

Honestly, I find that disrespectful. In the writing community, we're always complaining about how people copy our stories and don't credit the writer. The same should happen for art posted online. If you like the artist's work, credit them if you use their art.

I can't believe that person fought with you on that and laughed about reposting peoples' work without crediting it.

And YES! People at conventions actually profiting off of other's art. I heard a lot of artists carry their computers so they can show admin their PSD files and take down the selllers.

So thankful to social media staff for taking the time to deal with this unfortunately giant number of jerks. It's good that artists have something to combat this.

I live in mexico moved from venezuela, and I really can't judge these people, pirating and robing art to make a profit is a normal ocurrence her wich makes me sad :'C

painful to see freeloaders obtaining followers through other peoples work, parasites they are, nice job on reporting`em!
