Maybe it's because I'm on browser, but I can't even find the staff picks. ^^; I'll take your word for it though-- this is the first time I've seen the Tapas homepage in like a year, and it's almost disturbing how samey and stale their collection of promoted works has gotten. O_O I...if I had seen THAT when I first thought about joining this site, I would have assumed I just didn't belong here and would never find an audience even if I did join (which is probably what they want, tbh).
There's ~70 works displayed on their homepage and only like 3 genres total (and only 2 distinct artstyles...). o_O Absolutely abysmal levels of diversity...they might as well fully rebrand as a romantasy isekai website because it seems like those readers are the only ones they want around....
...Anyway, to get back on topic: that's pretty unfortunate if true. =/ I got Staff Picked once, around the time I first joined the forum, and it really gave a boost to my little weird scifi story with like 30 views...it would suck if that kind of opportunity wasn't available to small creators anymore.
