If it 'adds' to the story. Yeah. If it's like slice of life genre, then I can understand that too.
In one of the story I'm working on. The characters are stuck in a daily loop and the next day never comes. So I thought it good to give audience once, a general vibe of one of their routine everyday. Since I'm trying to paint it like nothing new ever happens, and he's just trying to stay sane for this particular character. Before adding in new elements that the days aren't going to be too much the same anymore.
I feel bad for him ha. He has to write the same text everyday to not be bothered. He can't break up with his partner cause, yeah. Tomorrow never comes. So the best solution he had found is just to say he's busy and want to focus on music for the day.
Alexi grumbles in weariness, not wanting to do anything. But he had decided before to keep moving, to be in constant motion, always doing something.
After sending a text, he gets up, briefly looking to the storm outside the glass before moving along—Teeth, shower, clothes, hair, keys, phone, the other things, rain, car, drive, mall, shop. Alexi had grown comfortable with the techwear style, though to wear them, he has to buy them again. Right now, he only has and is wearing his old clothes.
First, Queens Work, for two sets of the white heavy windbreaker hoodie, some random monochrome t-shirts, and black bomber pants. Shredding the plastic and putting the new attire on in the changing room after the purchase.
Then a quick stop at Roughline for fresh black sneakers to match. Grey duffle bag to put everything in, new and old attires, and a backpack he had neatly rolled up. Alexi throws away the brand shopping bags, placing his old shoes in the new shoe box and tosses it in the duffle.
That just leaves the timepiece at Chrono Gen, murdered-black 51-30. After leaving the store, he immediately tears the package apart and puts the watch on. The familiarity of the weight on his wrist settled once again. At the centre of the mall, Alexi sets the watch to the large analog spinner above.
..8:27 a.m.... ..not a PB, but still good time... (PB: Personal Best)
Alexi sighs in satisfaction and smiles. Keeping up to routine, now his day can actually start. Boring day, exciting day, he doesn’t know. He just tries to be a bit optimistic about things, and keep on moving along with the passing days— But first, a little treat for positivity at the beginning of the day is an absolute, must—Berry Blast at Another Smoothie.
Whatever the smoothie mixer has to say, Alexi doesn’t pay much attention. Cashiers and clerks, he has heard the same small talk hundreds of times, just wanting to pay and move swiftly along. Pacing fast for the exit to the exit, Alexi smiles, ready to embrace the stormy rain once again.
..I’d really like to see some sunshine today...
Some melodies fly over his head as he walks through the corridor. Some girl playing the public piano. Alexi sees her on most days of his shopping routine, and had listened a couple or few times. Like everyone else he sees though, there’s no point in any interaction. Everything will just reset anyway, and though the interactions differ slightly, slightly had eventually become all the same.
