Do you have a character people always get the gender wrong of?

I swear, this always happens when I have a male character with long hair! I don't think any of the characters have referred to 267 by his pronouns so I don't blame anyone for being a little confused

He's just pretty

Anyways, does anyone else have this happen with their characters?

Yeah lmao it happens all the time with my character the Aviator. They’re nonbinary, but most people think they’re male.

And I mean, I can see why they would think that?

I did try to give ‘em an androgynous design though. Guess they just exude​ masc energy no matter what lol

same with my nonbinary character! I ended up just including an author's note at the end of one of my episodes to let people know which seems to have done the trick

When Beyren was introduced in my comic, one of my readers (an irl friend) thought he was a girl due to his long hair, "girly hands", and "androgynous facial features". Also claimed that because I give some of my female characters buff forearms and masculine faces too, it was hard to tell the difference :')

When he's first introduced, he's wearing a lot of bulky layers in dark lighting and all of his body is covered except for the upper half of his face and his arms, so maybe I should have foreseen the confusion.

..I've never had this happen with any of my other characters though, so it caught me by surprise haha ^^;

There have been a couple times where I would sketch out a woman in a suit, show it to my family and they would mistake the messy chin area for a beard (and by extension, that the character was a dude).

When he was doing the comic reading stream, tjammy98 thought my character Oriel was male, when she was actually female.

Paperjam is often a boy in other AUs, so I forsee some people thinking this of my PJ. She's not. She's a girl. I tried to make this clear in her outfit.

Also, Frisk and Chara could be either gender in Undertale, so I'm not sure everyone will get their gender right initially. I tried to make it clear they were girls, though.

This occasionally happens with Loki, as people think he's just a flamboyant man. However, he is Genderfluid, and uses he/she/they pronouns, so technically you can't misgender them!

I have one character, but to be fair even the characters in my comic misgender them, so it's completely understandable for readers to. My tired grump, Julian. They're intersex, they don't see themselves as trans, but prefers gender neutral terms.

There's a Jojo parody in my story and the dude is really, REALLY manly. Possibly the manliest thing you can ever meet.... but he poses like a runway model.... and the dude supposedly looks very feminine in the Stick Figure universe.

There's people who mistake him for a woman all the time. He does get crap for it (which annoys him since all men pose like that on his world), but when he does, your ass is in trouble.

That said, he does do feminine activities like filing his nails and all that. He owns it like a champ. He'll only get mad if he can't hit someone who's disrespecting him.

Spoilers but girls were obsessed with him back on his planet because of him getting manicures or watching reality TV (dude loves his Housewives).

short answer: yes. all of them. because i only draw androgynous pretty boys 95% of the time

though Sariel in particular stands out because a) even other characters in universe think he looks like a girl and b) he wears (what looks like) a dress/skirt.

I have had some people misgender Pan. He's a little boy and I guess his giant cowlick looked like a ponytail, so people thought he was a girl. Pan is also not a very common name in English speaking countries, so maybe people didn't know that was a boy's name.

I think there was one person who mistook Jun for a guy once. Called them a hunk, too, which I don't think is fitting regardless of gender LOLOL. I could say that people have mistaken them for a woman, but that's kinda built into the story; I can't blame readers for believing what they're told. In-universe, they're mistaken for a man and woman all the time.

Angelo's gotten mistaken for a girl once or twice. This happens to him in-universe too, so it's kind of intentional.

Someone mistook Mai for a guy once. Weirdly, in-universe, this happened more to her in her teens, when she had longer hair (doodle at the top for reference)

Not much of a character, but this in-universe Vocaloid stand-in guy design got mistaken for a girl once.

I've always really liked androgynous designs, so it gives me a weird sense of pride knowing some of my character designs throw some people off.
