Do you have any experience on guest comics?

what it says on the tin! Has it been a paid job, or for free?
Do the authors contact you first or is it the opposite? i usually see these but artists usually contact people they know, and i'm curious in how others did it, and if its a fun job, or good for your/your partners comic :0

It benefits both (when it is a swap)! I am not sure if people pay for Guest Comics (as I see that as an extreme) but I do know many that do it for free fun! I am always down for a Guest Comic and at the end of the day, everyone just has fun.

yeah i think a ton of the time people trade guest comics OR someone would do one for a popular person cuz it could get the guest artist more readers. also lots of time for fun. i dont think peeps usually get money out of it tho

The one guest comic I've done was a trade, we both already read/followed each other's comics so when they made a post asking for guest comics I offered to do it, and I think the trade came in later. What people usually do is put a post on social media or their comic saying they're looking for guest comics, and anyone's who's interested contacts the author.
I've never heard of people paying for guest comics before, though I do imagine it happens. Most of the time it seems to be just friendly gift art, no monetary payment involved.

Haven't seen anybody charging for a guest comic, but who knows, maybe some do.

In my personal experience, authors reach out to peers through forum threads or social media, asking, yo anybody want to help me out with a guest art/comic?. And well volunteers make a comment saying that they're willing to help out a fellow in need =].

Some may take the chance for the extra exposure, no doubt about that.

In my case if I like the person's comic/art, I find the characters appealing or the author is my friend I gladly help them, no need for payment or any kind of trade, I do it out of pleasure really, I like to draw other peeps characters XD. The only logic condition I ask is that they credit my work.

And yes, to me is a lot of fun =].
