Anyone who asks for diversity in their media are immediately decried as being "politically correct" or a "feminazi" or "crying SJW".
Frankly, it's a little ridiculous, but them's the breaks. You all remember the whole Rue controversy, right? When so many people freaked out that Rue was cast as a black girl in Hunger Games? And even as recently as yesterday, the former CEO of marvel refused to greenlight a female superhero because HE didn't "believe" in them.

Here in webcomics/indie novels, etc. Critics be damned. You want diversity, scream to the high heavens to come to US. Hollywood won't give it to you? Creators on Tapasapp, Line, and other places will.
