Do you listen to music that is added to the comics?

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to know what's the general opinion about adding music?

for my series R:ILPERSONA i am also currently developing a music soundtrack that is inspired by the first volume of the series. I'd love to accompany some updates with music but I was wondering, do readers check out the music or do you generally bypass it? i'm always curious about music uploads, especially if it is original music.

full disclaimer: along with being a writer/creator, i dabble in music production so that's why i ask XD

i always music to each of my chapters, music adds an extra dimension to the comic, so its somewhat necessarie for me, so yes i do listen to other peoples mucsic too

I always read the comics on a business computer or tablet so I haven't had to chance to explore this option.
I'm sure it's would add depth to whole experience however music with words could get in the way of the reading...

I've done so a few times, but it depends on the length of an episode. If it's a really short update, like one page with a few panels, then I don't tend to listen to the accompanying music.

Never. I prefer to listen to the soundtrack of MY choice, even if it's silence.

I would prefer music as some sort of a bonus downloadable content.

I hate music added to comics. I find it super annoying for some reason.

well not really, im not composer, only the writter and artist of my comic, i pick ambiental music so that is dosent affect much the reader, glad you like it

I don't even notice the songs posted in the beginning of an episode, that's how little I am interested.

But if you create the music yourself and maybe mention it in the comment area, I would go back to look at it. Maybe. Normal music however I completely skip every single time.

Yeah you should definitely mention that you create the themes specifically for your comic so it won't take 30 sec before the right part begins. It's also a plus if it's ambiance themes so you can read at whatever speed you like.

Personnally the only times I listen to a soundtrack is when I'm working and want to listen to something new... But I don't read the comic while listening, no.

I at first had the option of automatic playing, often I found the music matching with the contents of the comics. But one day a comic used very loud hard rock music for theircomic(it was adventure/action) (and sudden loud music scares the shit out of me) So from then I alsways play is myself. I dot mind it, comics like Juju's diary I can't imagine without music.

It helps if the comic creator(s) have a ear for music and know how to compliment artwork with songs. A lot of readers don't understand the concept of that and prefer using their own music instead, which is fine. I composed songs for my own comic in some pages but the rest I hand pick very carefully a song that fits perfectly. After all, it's optional to play the accompaniment if they so desired but somehow (and I don't know if this is fact but) readers do stray away from webcomic with music in them-- perhaps considered unprofessional. I don't know. I like to think that "If the music fits, it ships."

I hardly ever listen to the attached music because I have autoplay set to "off". Now that I think about it, there's no reason for me to keep it that way except that I have this fear that something loud would play, which would startle me. I'll give it a go the next time I see a comic with accompanying music.

Not at all.

That said I've always wanted to use REALLY bad music to accompany my comics. Like really awful music.
