Do you resemble your protagonist?

Oh I can relate to that so much. There are many things you wish you could do but you can't for some reason in real life, so it's interesting to make your characters do those things - I personally like seeing how things could progress.

That's a quite specific characteristic to change - is there a reason as to why you chose them to have less self-control or was it just a coincidence?

Letting your own emotions that you experienced in certain situations be an inspiration during your writing process is really helpful since it makes setting the atmosphere a lot easier and often times more authentic.

What I'm currently writing has more than one protag and they're all a lot cooler than I am. And prettier. Mostly.

I learned a long time ago that self-inserts would just get my feelings hurt. So I avoid them like some covidiots avoid healthy lifestyle choices.

I don't resemble most of my protagonists in Devil's Triangle. Partly because the plot requires certain types of personalities and so, my characters are very tailored to the story. Maybe the most similar one to me is a side character, Elise - the wife of one of my protagonists.

The main protagonist, Sandra, is a small-time singer who's pretty, flirtatious and hides a lot of trauma and insecurity. I'm... not any of that, except I may flirt subtly with some people. It's nowhere on the same level as her though.

Thomas, my other protagonist, is an eager policeman who is full of energy, a little naive, observant, and tends to stumble on his words around the person he likes. Of all those, I guess I might relate most to the observant part.

Finally, Will is a mild, mature, and intuitive counselor. I guess he's closest to me in terms of hobbies that we share. But I'm definitely not mild like him and I'm more of an ambivert as compared to him being an introvert.

Physically yes and that's on purpose. My comic is based on an RPG my friends and I came up with, so when I adapted the idea to a comic, I based the main characters on our player characters and gave them an appearance that was somewhat similar to us in real life. It's kind of an inside joke for us. Personalitywise no, not at all, although my friends insist that one of the main antagonists is my self-insert, I don't know what they're talking about

I love mythology, and I have hair like my protagonist ( but blonde). Aside from that, we're not similar.

I look a bit like my main female character. Auburn hair, brown eyes, both of us are smol, but my nose is way bigger and I wear glasses lol Personality-wise, we both both struggle with fears keeping us from doing things, but frankly I don't think we're that much alike. Mercy is much nicer, and doesn't open her mouth and insert her foot as much as I do

The only trait that I share with my female protagonist is our ethnicity is the same. I look nothing at all like her, her skin tone is about 8 shades darker than my own and I have black hair and brown eyes. I'm also a waif of a woman compared to her as well.

To some extent yes, but not really. It's only just the thickness of her hair as well as the hair color

Not really since my protagonist is an 11-year-old girl and I'm clearly not, but I will admit that I have put a lot of myself in all my characters. Every single character of mine has some trait coming from me, and I just realized that's a bad idea because I am really jaded. I think I'll strive to make my characters more likable but it'll be a while since I'm planning on moving out of my awful neighborhood sometime in 2021 and living here is not ideal at all. Maybe when I move out, then I can be jolly and merry and my characters can become more likeable.

People who don't know me very well tend to think I'm like Rekki, because we're both very intense and have kind of fiery shounen passion! Buuuut the big difference is Rekki's problem is she never thinks things through, while I overthink everything.

With appearance no as my main characters are anthro characters. I have taken traits from me and given them to the characters, so they are a bit like me. (Mostly one of my mains Natalie) But they are still different.

Oh god I hope not. My titular character is a 2'9" tall hellspawn who is part dog/part ferret, smells like a skunk taken out by a semi-truck, only eats fruit, and is scared of water.

Oh, but I guess I'm somewhat similar to my other main. We're both oblivious, blonde, human females so that's something I guess. Though unlike me (hopefully), she also breathes fire, has piercing blue eyes, spits corrosive acid, is incredibly lanky, can't draw to save her life, and has the aforementioned character as a father.

You could say he's a real "party animal". Mostly just because he's an animal and he's drunk 85% of the time he's a good guy though I promise.
