Do you stay out of politics?

Since I'm mostly sci-fi and fantasy, I'm not explicit about it. And explicit stuff dates your comic and can be heavy handed and if you do it badly you message can totally overshadows your actual work. But I think most people' politics leak into their creations whether they want them to or not. I don't think I've ever seen a perfectly neutral piece of fiction anywhere.

I'm writing a novel right now where the love interest is called The Other, and has lots of themes of alienation, class divide and other things so... Yeah the work is political just because most works will show the creator's mindset and viewpoint on aspects of humanity that make it political.

I've always considered myself to stay out of politics because they stress me out irl but sometimes I guess it can't be helped too much and it unconsciously gets poured into my work. If your work has a lesson, it's more or less bound to have some taste of politics sometimes (ofc it's not always applicable). I do try my best for it to be left into interpretation rather than saying x is wrong, x is right ( i don't believe my characters can be said as good or evil 100%, just human) because that kinda defeats the established gray morality in my project..

My passion project has some politics in it Ig? because it deals with justice and order. There's some questions about what really is fair and not equal when it comes to retribution.

My webcomic isn't too political as of right now, but it will definitely become more political in the future. I just think with the subject matters I'm exploring (social technology, corruption, power, etc.), there's no way NOT to make it political. Obviously I don't want to alienate any readers, but ultimately I need to tell the story I want to tell.

My comic is very political, a political horror thriller, so to speak. If I lose readers because of this or don't gain any, I don't care. I don't want these readers.

Politics is a polarizing topic, and with the recent events, many people are more sensitive than ever and quicker to get deffensive. Personally, i just laughted at the fox news pun XD

About my work: The themes and humor in my current comic are not designed to be political, and i am not sure if i ever gonna make anything related to politics.

Everyone has their own unconscious biases, so it makes sense their vision may get expressed in their work.

However, not every story gives that space, and sometimes people just makes a story without a message, just for the sake of entertaining.

Well I personally have a political ideology (though I think of myself as a political freethinker), but I tend to avoid getting political into my creations. I do, however, address political issues, but I mostly deal with things that are common to everyone , not just a side.
I want my stories to be enjoyed by everybody and while I admire artists who manifest their political view through their works (even the ones who have one totally different from mine), I personally don't feel like I need to.

My comic is a satire of modern day politics but I made sure it works within the comics' universe so it wouldn't be picked up easily kind of like The Crucible.

People kept having a massive crush on one of the villains so I must've did something right for no one to pick up on it lol

Exactly this, but obviously depending on where you stand, certain things are inherently political. Something many of us think of as simply having a gay or trans or black or (in extreme cases these days) female main character (or even just characters in general) because they exist is political and pushing an agenda to some people. And things like is the monarchy good or evil can be considered political. How political that makes your comic depends on the reader. (You just have to look into how people read boarding schools as cool setting to get rid of parents for kids to be kids vs elitist and classist and nostalgic for the return of imperialism to see that)

Problem with democratic is: When there are more idiots than sane. The sane will loose.

True, but sometimes people is just making up subtext that isn't there. Everyone has their unconscious bias after all, even the readers

Yeah I tend to stay away from politics. Mostly because...I'm...a conservative right wing leaning person, and most art based sites I'm at are less than friendly towards my viewpoints.

But also, I stay away from politics because they cause a lot of division and negativity, and I don't want to get wrapped up in a flame war over my private personal views.
On top of that, I'm extremely dissatisfied with politics in my country on both sides, they're all corrupt no matter where you turn. But since socially we're supposed to pick a side...I go with the one that closest follows my personal beliefs.

That is what i dislike the most about modern politics. Sometimes people don't agree with everything a group says and dont disagree with everything another group says.

This "take a side" mindset discourages independent thinking and civil discussion, and that is my biggest frustration about the current political scenario.

More than anything I want to be left alone and have my own views without being forced by others to choose.
I keep my mouth shut more often than I should. Even in my own house with my family I feel trapped sometimes. Politics bring the worst side out of people.
All I want is to work on my art. But no... I'm supposed to let politics determine my entire identity...(sarcasm)

Yes, I stay out of politics. I try to get out of current politics as much as possible, no jamming any current brands people or countries. There is no reason why I should be political in stories where the focal point is the characters and their motivations. Sure I build the world and have them have bigger political issues such as negotiations over land, power struggles between them and allocation of wealth, beyond that everything is focused on character. Nothing more nothing less. If it is there, it is to drive home the plot.

But I feel sometimes readers can get a little confused that just cause a character believes in one thing doesn't automatically mean the author agrees. I'm sure you've seen this disclaimer or one similar somewhere.
