I'm honestly not sure tbh. Ithink my idea is appealing to a mass audience (fantasy, drama, coming of age, had young good looking characters) and the art is higher quality than a lot of the webtoons I see featured. But looking back I can definitely point out to things that stand in the way: my intro/ is a typical "telling the lore" (which I redid but haven't uploaded yet. Though the art QUALITY isn't inconsistent, the first few chapters are painted and later chapters are line art because the painterly art stands out, and it's what I was used to before. However lineart anime style is more efficient, and honestly I like seeing my characters looking like anime characters, taps into my childhood dream of making my own anime ^^; While my story has a lot of depth and layered characters, it's a slow burn at first which might make the younger teens 13-16 bored and impatient if nothing happens fast enough, but I'm changing around a few scenes.
Despite the faults, I managed to get 1.8k subs with about 20 story updates and not all my updates are long, and without ANY help from webtoon. No spotlight on front page or round up, nothing. I made the discover top 30 in my category regularly (despite my intro), but that's based on your own merit not webtoon's backing. So I think the audience is on my side, and growing. The webtoon staff itself so far hasn't backed me, but I'd rather not assume they never will. I might have the type of story that takes a lot of content for it to pay off. So I'm focusing on gathering and pleasing the audience and improving my comic's quality, rather on the lottery of webtoons featuring me, I think it'll come when it' comes. All I know is that my story deserves my best, whatever it takes for me to tell it the best way I can I will, but I'm not gonna bend over backwards making too many changes without the promise of being featured. Like I redid the intro cause that's the readers' first impression = good pay off for work in terms of higher subs/views/likes, even without feature. But I'm not gonna redraw all my painterly scenes into line art anime scenes UNLESS webtoons promises to feature me because they need the art to be super consistent. The painterly scenes are loved by my current fans and they don't really distract from understanding the story, so it's not something that stands in my way of growing audience. All I want is to work on this full time and make a living off it. Whether that's a webtoon feature or feature from another site, or enough patrons supporting me. No need to put all the eggs in that basket, but I'm definitely open to them featuring me and willing to make some adjustments for them as long as the story is still true to me.
