Do you use overused trope for your comic?

I have considered tossing out the premise of my slow developing romance in my story to make the first page of the first chapter the two man character dudes making out in their underwear. Studies show, a sexy slap in the face at the start will get you a thousand subs.

I'd have to agree that tropes should be subtle or snarky. I think character tropes if used correctly can be good shortcuts to character development and can help avoid drawn out exposition. Clumsy cliches on the other hand can be annoying, pandering or boring.

The only person with any real development in my comic at the moment is the main character who is mostly just an unrepentant asshole. I'd probably be more likely to make fun of tropes or use them in a satirical way. I sorta already did when I made a friendly jab at chibi slice of life comics. I might just use this now actually for a short comic.
