Do your characters ever show up in your dreams?

Just a fun little question to ask. Do your characters ever show up in your dreams? If so, did you dream them up first and then make characters out of them or did they start showing up after you created them? And, if you can remember it, share the most memorable dream of them. Just so long as it's not X-rated that is.

As for me, that's a definite yes. All sorts of characters show up after I've created them.

Most recently, this guy:

He tends to be a regular and, whenever he shows up, he's always up to something.

Like, last night was a weird Steven Universe crossover where he overthrew the Diamonds and became the king of Homeworld. He then started hunting the Crystal Gems for various reasons...

Fortunately I woke up before anything bad happened. Makes no sense, but is kind of funny in hindsight.

this character showed up in my dream a few nights ago. he was playing piano at a restaurant or something and then he died ?? and i got really mad and started yelling at people that he was innocent

Oh yes, it happens rare, but I had a few dreams with my OC's. It happens way after I created them.
I even had to put parts of one dream into a small comic, because it was very memorable!

The nerd in the glasses is my OC Jun.
I dreamt about working with him in a secret underground facility.
In the first panel we were at a meeting, and our supervisors introduced some new big project to us.
In the second panel things went out of control, and I was asked to calm everyone, but their panic just got worse...
In third me and Jun had to get out, but it was really hard with the panicking people around and the fact the facility would blow up in less than an hour or so...
In 4th panel we managed to escape before the blast.
In the end we just flopped on the ground and it was the first time since ages hours that we could just relax. But of course I can't chill and get all those thoughts about what now?

Well anyway, it was pretty intense!

Not anymore, but the characters I created for stuff and would roleplay used to. To be honest, I haven't been waking up able to recall any of my dreams lately, so if they have I don't remember.

I'm hoping I start remembering them soon though because a lot of my ideas come from dreams >8\

Yeah! My characters from my comic Icebreaker sometimes tag along in my dreams.
The most vivid dream I've had, was not too long ago.
I was at a local rink eating fries with them, and they were amazed by the peanut sauce they served there. They were very loud and I was super embarrassed. Nothing much happened, but it t was so weird because it felt so real haha.

Almost all the characters from Welcome Back are from my dreams. And they ended up appearing in my dreams again after drawing them so much. Although there are a few that appear unusually regularly.

These goddamn twins. They appeared twice ominously watching me in two dreams and then after using them in my comic they kept appearing. Either in masks or driving together in a car or just being their plain stalkerish selves.

Usually they don't even though I have dreams with fictional characters all the time.

The first time I had a dream with one of my characters, it was unbelievable for me because it just never happened.
It must have been in 2008-ish. And it featured...

Miss Oh (who appears in my comic Crow's Worth)

and Tony Fisher (a character which I drew a lot in high school...I don't draw him much now so this is the best picture I have)

I guess in my story, I jumped off a cliff (as one does) but thing is, you can't actually die in a dream, instead your dream will go haywire and try to fill in the illogical gaps. So at the bottom, I didn't land to my death, instead I landed in a dining room and was sitting at a table with a bunch of other people who were just casually eating. And at that point I realized that I was Tony Fisher and Miss Oh was there. And I think my high school crush was there too, I can't remember.

However my favorite dream was with my favorite character

Mr. Blueberry.

So I was sitting on the curb in a suburban neighborhood (which looked like those in Arizona). It was overcast and beside me sat a 6 year old version of myself. Mr. Blueberry came up to me and sat down beside us. He asked if we were hungry and said he saw a foodtruck that sold pasta. So be bought the food and ate it together on the curb, mostly in silence. I had this dream when I was feeling really depressed but somehow it made me really happy and hopeful.

Oh, and I had another really weird dream which my therapist tried to analyze but I told her not too because it was just the characters acting in character.

So...Long story short. Mar (the man) is a merman who can't breath air and has
trouble walking on land. One day he found an orphan girl which he named
"Shella." She gave him hope in life and she helped out her disabled
father.

In my dream, Shella is asked by a wealthy man for her
hand in marriage. Shella finds the man to be perfect but if she marries
him, she can never see her father again. In the end she chooses to marry
the wealthy man.

I don't think I've ever created a character directly because of a dream -- my dreams have way too much ineffable emotion in them, it would be too hard to capture and distill.

Yeah, I'm the same way! I spend 99% of my time thinking about my characters, and I have pretty vivid and detailed dreams, but my characters almost never end up in them, so it's really exciting when it happens, even if it's something small and silly.

I've had a couple of dreams where I was this guy:

Me being a person who isn't me for dreams just happens now and again

And Esra has made like... two appearances...

....one where he got roped into fighting monsters for sport somehow (I may have been him in that dream as well, it's unclear) and one where he was on a Big Brother style reality show and everyone I knew was telling me about it because a dozen clips of him being unreasonable were all over Youtube.

you can't actually die in a dream

I died in a dream ONCE, I splattered on the pavement, I don't remember it well anymore but I remember telling everyone how upsetting it was right after I had it. Unless I just dreamed about dying in a dream? I wouldn't put that past me.

Most of my characters are based on dreams so... |"D (Hessa, Acantha, Schnell mainly)

But I HAVE dreamt with Bells and with Lheur.

With Bells it was her just walking around the campus I studied in and just me being the disembodied voice of reason while she kept doing innocent pranks/annoyingly cute things and me getting frustrated trying to send her home before anyone would see her.

With Lheur it was another weird dream I was being chased by a monster and I said "You can't catch me if I JUMP" and I jumped off a balcony before realizing gravity is a thing. Out of the blue, I took out Lheur who worked like an airbag to break my fall.

YES! I dream about my Magic Advisor characters all the time. The name Lizzy for my main character was actually a name that came to me in a dream when I was debating what to name her

I usually have some dreams about weird things happening to the characters. Probably because I think so much about what will happen to them. So far I haven't used any dream plot as a story but it probably will happen. ^^; My comic is so strange and random it would probably work

But I have created several characters from interesting people that I have dreamed of.
In fact, I have a short fairytale that is one of the longest and most vivid dreams I have ever had.

Rarely or every so often, and when they do (if I remember the dream lol), I can use it in a comic chapter or one of those off panel comics at the end.

I dreamt of Serge and Morris for the FIRST TIME EVER the other night! I was thrilled. I never dream about the comic but they were right there! Not doing anything in particular, mind you, I think they were trying to prank me actually, but god it was weird and cool. What was weirder was that I dreamed them in my style. They weren't actual, physical people, it was like they were animated. Like Who Framed Roger Rabbit style. It was like seeing old friends.

I think I had a dream a while back where Andreas was in it. We were just hanging out if I remember correctly.

My dreams are pretty boring and are usually just character-driven, just like my stories >.>
