Do your friends, family or significant others read your comics?

Most of people I know doesn't, although I wish they did! Do you think it's vital for personal bonding, or in the contrary, it is better this way? Or maybe it doesn't matter? How do you feel about it?

My sister(s) do! My youngest because she is lgbqt and my middle because I force her to.

depends , some people will think you are crazy for making comics ,and some people will cheer you along
it could also depend on the content you are making and what platform you are using

I share it with a few best friends who also do art. I don't really share it with my family though; they don't really do comic art so I don't think they'd understand

My SO was my very first reader ever, back before I rebooted my story.
He still reads the new version and likes it better.

My family does not speak english so no.
But a lot my personal friends have started reading it because of my constant gushing about it xD
Also, I write a novel, not comic, but wanted in on the threrad anyway

My bf actually helps me with the writing in my comic though he says he doesn't want to be credited for this one because it's my project. ;w;

My best friend reads it whenever she has off days from work, she's actually 4 chapters ahead of any reader so I guess she's my #1 fan haha

My mom knows about it but I don't think she reads it or she'd have some questions about the topics I write about and ask if I'm ok mentally lol

NO, they don't read my novel lol and I didn't know if I would want them to but yeah no I guess this is only for comics my bad i forgot to add I think my partner thinks I spend too much time and that I have too man screens up to really be truly 100% working on my novel... its madding but yeah yeah though i read my novel

I have trust issues on how my family perceive my creations, I don't wanna be ridiculed, censored, or thought as mentally ill for creating something weird. Thus, I have nobody to share in real life.

I tried to get my mom to read mine but she got upset. Would NEVER share my stuff with my dad, nu-uh. It would just cause a lot of problems in the long run and it's not worth it to me. I wish they could read it without getting upset, though.

No, not at all...not my family nor my friends know I'm making a comic. They don't even know I have a dedicated instagram page for this kind of art haha. My comic feels like a diary, I just feel much more comfortable sharing it with people who don't know me than people who do.

At the moment, four IRL people are following me on Tapas (including my husband and my best friend), but various other members of my friend group follow me on Webtoon, Tumblr, or DeviantArt. (I post on all four sites.)

My immediate family doesn't read it, however. I don't think it'd be my brother's thing, but I wouldn't be upset if he wanted to read it. I'm not sharing it with my parents, though. Given how fond my mom wasn't of my comic book collection as a teenager, I think my reticence to share it with them is reasonable.

A decent chunk of my friends read it but whenever my family asks I bluntly just tell them no or I find ways to change the subject simply because my comic has gore and also touches on other adult themes.

The last time I shared my love for horror to my family I was about 14 and this was back in the day when AMVs were popular, one day I made a very edgy AMV with a song by Evanescence and one of my aunts saw it, freaked out, and ended up calling the authorities on me thinking I was going to hurt myself for some reason. So I just straight up don't trust any of them after that.

My family do read my comics. I'm not sure they exactly like them, but they're very supportive. My mum likes to gush about how great she thinks my work is, despite not generally liking Fantasy or any of the things I'm influenced by.

My partner and I always read each other's work. It's actually how we got together; we met on the UK small press comics scene and our first date was at a comics event. I help edit their chapters for their Tapas novel, Bard Romance. They sometimes leave me little fanart drawings on my desk for motivation

They don't read mine and I actually like it. Because if they did, I wouldn't know if they're doing because they just wanted to please me or because they really appreciate it.

Years ago I printed few issues of an independent comic book to sell at a convention. Before the convention, my father asked for one issue. Of course I gave it to him and I'm quite sure he never read it, because he never talked to me about it. And if he had read, he would have come to me to say he liked it, even if he didn't. And my father likes comic books and all. So he showed up at the convention and asked to purchase an issue. And I was like... "What for? I already gave you one." and he... "Oh, I want to help you!" Dude, this killed me!

So I don't need this kind of response.

The only people close to me that follow my work for real are my wife plus a couple of friends and I enjoy it because they tell me the truth, share their opinions, tell me when something's not good etc.

My sister follows me on Instagram and my mum (bless her) sends me photos of castles etc. from her days out - for inspiration.

My dad likes cars, DIY and doesn’t use the internet. I imagine my mum shows him my drawings occasionally.

My mum doesn’t like Aatma. Thinks he’s scary looking. Lol!
