I wouldn’t do it for JUST one series. If you have pre-existing social media accounts its easy to just pivot and retain whatever following you have.
The problem with making new accounts for projects is that there is always a contingent of followers that will never know about the new socials for no reason other than the algorithm didn’t show them that particular post about it or they just don’t check social media often.
Ideally, you want to be building a following who will want to follow you across all your works—not just one.
Social media is uhhh social! Its not ideal to use in the same way you might use a personal website. Its best as a catchall for all the stuff you care about, you work on, will work on, etc. It will also be more effective this way as opposed to running it like a promo machine (see here: Twitter and Instagram accounts that ONLY make comic update posts).
I try to just give myself rules about when and what I post. If I feel like posting something personal I’ll do it but if I’ve been posting a lot of that content I may rethink it and save it for later. If there’s too many plain ol illustrations, I’ll throw up a comic. I think its all about balance
