Does anyone know how the algorithm works?

I’ve been thinking about posting and I’ve been wondering about a good way to do it. I’m struggling between posting once a week to get people onboard, twice a week to give myself time and to stretch out the buffer, or starting at once a week and then scaling down to twice a week once the buffer starts to run out.

However, I’ve seen people say that posting once a week is better for the “algorithm”. Is this true? Has anyone noticed this? Would there really be that much of a discrepancy in your algorithm place if you posted twice a month instead of four times? How is it’s in Webtoon vs Tapas? Has anyone who’s been at this while noticed this and can you let me know what you’ve seen?

Everyone is just giving our best guesses based on our own observations and others anecdotal evidence.

You're looking for a balance of consistently posting that plugs new positive numbers into the algorithm...and maintaining a level of quality.

Everyone is going to balance that differently.

I am posting on Webtoon too, but there I almost don't have followers. It's enough frustrating

I don't know for sure but the algorithm seems to favor when you garner a lot of comments, subs, and likes during a specific period of time. (I think its each day? So 24 hours?) I only have around 238-ish subs but I tend to see my novel near the top of the sci-fi section because I have many active readers who comment/like. For trending, I think new updates do help push it up because you'll usually receive a influx of activity.

I've noticed from posting my comic that time and day of the week matters when getting new views. I'm not sure what the optimal times are, but don't post at 6pm EST on Wednesday like I do. Things are pretty dead during that time, and I've noticed I get more views during the following days than day I post. That's why I wanna change my schedule. From what I've seen and heard, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 12pmish EST are good times for posting, but I'd like someone to fact check me on that. What's most important is a consistent schedule.

Trending is active subs vs total subs vs how fast they react to the update. I have troubles with trending. The total numbers place me in popular sometimes, but almost never in trending, even when I get lots of likes per day (once I got 50 likes, and wasn’t in trending)...

I mean, the answer is always ‘write The Book’ that will explode, so, yeah, I am overall on the side of simply posting often and consistently and letting the algorithm do its thing.

...and keep in mind, that at least on Tapas, the algorithm isn't a guarantee of anything. They have on multiple times made it clear they reserve the right to "curate" any categories results.
