Does anyone know how to animate in CLIP STUDIO PAINT?

I was trying to venture more on making short animation. for now, I'm just trying to practice making animated gif. The thing is most tutorial I found was focusing more on how to do the animation lines and the settings for the frame rate, etc.

I'm currently stuck on how to color each frame. Idk how to set the layers properly in the folder, etc. If possible, if there's anyone who I can talk about this would be so helpful

I’ve used clip studio paint for about 3-4 years now and have messed around with the animation feature. I could probably help you with whatever questions you have! I’m not the biggest fan of CSP’s animation setup because they make you pay for pro if you want any more than 24 frames lol, so i’ve never done anything more than that. But i’ve used other programs for animation before so I get the gist!
I don’t know everything but I’ve got a relatively good idea on how the setup works! I can try and answer whatever you need!

The easiest way to color in clip is to make a separate timeline below the line art and just color that timeline, using the above "layer" timeline as your line work. And long as the timelines are not moved you will have no problems. This means you need to finish your rough, clean-up, and final pass before coloring.

So I wanted to renew my animation, and what I can tell is that, I had a hard time colouring it. Idk like where to put the colouring layer...I can only do the base colour but when i tried to clip the layer for shadowing, it didnt work (probably cuz my layer arrangement are messed up)

Hm, Can I see how you have your layers set up? That’s most likely the problem!

Just to double check:
Are you using animation folders?

The animation folder should let you organize your animation cells over time, which is super helpful!
From there, you can use the animation folder similar to layers for drawing.

Here's the setup I use in Clip Studio Paint for reference.

Short "button" notes for adding cells to animation folder.

• (A) Add animation folder
• (B) Add animation cells
• (C) Select frame in animation folder in the timeline (see orange arrow), then Assign cell to frame

So, that means the colouring also needs to be in the animation folder?

Yeah. If the base colour is in normal folder, it will NOT change over time/frames. Try putting colours in animation folder.
