@LemonLips If you intend to ever make webcomics into a full time job you need to either get into a contract with a publisher that offers a guaranteed minimum monthly pay (they are few and hard to get contracts with but do exist. Most of web publishing is about rev share to one extent or another) or you need to incorporate multiple revenue streams.
I work full time as an artist and earn enough to support myself.
First I'd like to state I've had 4-5 comics ongoing through most of this and it took a long time and a lot of hard work to get to where I am. I also had to have a really stressful part time job for a while before it really took off. Expect this because 99% of professional artists did not draw the lucky card and jump straight into decent earnings.
My income streams are as follows:
- I have a premium comic with Tapas
- I have a Patreon where I give exclusive content on 3 comics and early access on 2 of them.
- I am eligible for Webtoons Patreon pledge program.
- Ad revenue
- Tips. I have a tipping reward system that helps increase this.
- Occasional print sales via Lulu.
- Very little, but I do get merch sold once in a while via redbubble.
Right now I work pretty much every minute I can spare, but things are looking better so I am finally setting into plans of halving my workload in early 2019. Hopefully it works out. If it does, I will pick up learning instruments and start a journey getting into music as well.
Motivation, discipline and determination will guide your way.
