My novel does indeed cover these topics.
I struggled a lot growing up and have always found solace in writing, especially poetry when it came to topics of this sort. There were many dark times, but I found my light and am so happy in life right now. I'm so glad the suicide attempts always failed and someone always found me to help me.
I have continued writing and actually decided to add these poems to my novel. As my main character goes through things and needs to process, she writes.
Darkness, Healing, Romance, Nature, Misc are the categories so far. I plan to continue adding in new poetry as I write Jo.
This is my dedication in my first book, Veil of Ashes.
To anyone carrying hidden scars and stories,
You are not broken. You are not alone.
You are proof that even in the deepest darkness,
you can endure.
Your strength, your hope, your light,
will guide you through.
This is my Epigraph
Embers
After everything Iāve been through,
I shouldnāt believe in hope,
In love,
In happiness.
Somehow thereās still a small spark,
Thatās still glowing,
Holding onto hope.
Itās like an ember.
At the end,
Itās burnt down,
Charred,
Scarred,
But it can still catch,
And create a new flame.
The flame can rise up,
And give new life to a fire.
To guide the way,
Or to keep warm,
Those that gather round,
To enjoy itās simple pleasure.
This is my Epilogue.
My Ink
Scars prove Iāve lived.
Prove Iāve fought.
Every story is written in scars
and every scar is a triumph.
