Doing Writing Commissions

Okay, so I know art commissions are pretty popular and can help an artist a lot, but I was wondering if there's anything for writers. I know you get editing commissions as well as fanfic writing commissions, but are there any other types of writing commissions that you can do.

I'm thinking of opening some writing commissions on my Ko-fi page, but I'm new to this and am kind of looking for advice from other writers.

script writing might be an option if you're up to it but i think if you're really curious it might not hurt to ask folks on the official ko-fi discord for help in getting ideas as well

I don't really have any authority to speak about what's already common out there, but I can see myself hiring a writer to flesh out and actually put to prose/script a kernel of an idea I have that I don't know where to take I guess I'd call them a 'first draft writer' since I'd want to look over what they built out of my idea and tweak things to better match my own vision :] (Basically I prefer to be the editor and let someone else give me the thing to edit XD)

I guess if such services aren't already a thing writers commonly offer, that might actually be an advantage if it's something in demand but no-one knew because they never thought to offer it?

Well, there are people asking for writers from time to time here.
But a lot of the time you'll find the gigs somewhere else

• Be it writting essays for graduates
• Speeches for local politicians, movements, etc
• Scripts for commercials
• Scripts for indie games
• Scripts for comedic (optional genre tbh) Sketches for youtubers
• Fanfiction (Not too frequent, but some people pay to see a specific prompt or kind of story)
• Scripts for Comics, video-games, short stories
• Writting to create Worldbuilding, chronologies, characters, etc.

Another option to earn money and improve your writing would be to become a beta reader. I've seen them on a freelancing website. As a beta reader, you read and provide your opinion to the writer. If the writer has specific questions, you'll do your best to answer them.

If you do ghost writing, there are also different approaches to it. Some writers give a detailed outline for the ghost writer while others give a more broad description. Some will give the ghost writer a draft, finished or completed, and ask the ghost writer to rewrite/finish it. I came across a vid a few days ago about ghost writing from a ghost writer, hope this helps:

You could try content mills, or youtube channels. I didn't enjoy doing it but it's definitely an option if you need the money. From my experience though it's pretty hard to get commissions from people. Though there are other ways like content mills, making your own blog, publishing a amazon book and getting a lot of people to buy it.
