Hi yall, just updated my story with Chapter 9, it's a twist on the enemies to lovers trope so if you're interested, check it out!
Snippet: I remain still for several minutes following their dismissal, allowing for ample time to distance themselves from my hall. My hand clasps around the doorknob, the gilded iron cold to the touch as I haltingly rotate it. The lock clicks to release the bolt. I gently press my ear to the door, suspicious of any movement I mightâve alerted. With the coast clear, I proceed with opening the door.
The sconces have since gone out so I move to light an oil lamp from my nightstand, leaving the door ajar. With my light in hand, I take one final glance around the hall before treading forward.
