For the past however long now this one dude has been spamming his exact same single panel in an effort to promote himself, utilizing a page I follow that must auto RT anything that uses their special hashtag. Don't be this guy. Promoting yourself every single day is a little ridiculous. You can naturally advertise every time you update, especially if you run on a schedule. In addition, the fact that it was always one of two panels made me think for the past two months he had made no new material to advertise himself with and therefore felt the need to be this aggressive in marketing to make up for a lack of content.

I know I don't even need to tell the Tapas community not to do it. I just wanted to whinge about first world problems. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

I usually check out whoever throws an unsolicited message for their stuff at me.

I usually don't care for it.

I usually block users who do it to me more than once, especially if it's an exact carbon copy message.

Sorry I meant to say this was on Twitter, that's why it was annoying. Didn't follow this guy specifically, just the page that was set up to promote anyone in webcomics who used their tag. I'm slow so just today I realized he was abusing their bot system. I don't think I'd have even cared if it was a new page or artwork. Seeing the same joke for multiple days just made me hate his comic without looking at it, lol.

Some people don`t understand how advertising works.

The key is to keep it organic, so it doesn`t feel like an ad at all.

@xanedis The best ads are content you actually want to see. That is why creativity is so fundamental when it comes to advertising.

I do this only on Twitter and I don't think that's actually unreasonable. What I DON'T want to see, however, is someone sharing every hour, or DM'ing people, or share-connecting (having multiple platforms posting to each other...ie: IG can post to FB and Twitter, etc.)

I also share twice on all update days because the people that follow me are usually in the 25-40 year old age range. They work and, I am trying to find the optimal time to share to increase my views.

I only give direct links to individuals who ASK for it, otherwise...I can't stand that private messaging crap or even spamming on my public walls. I have exceptions to that ie: I have been making friends with people here and they shared MY work so I gave them a shout-out as well. This is an exchange and must be done politely...

mmmmm....boy I wish PW wasn't shutting down. >:frowning:

Timing is vital when it comes to advertising or self promotion. If you are not being invasive with your ads, there is no problem.

If you send the same ad many times to the same person, then you risk alienating them.

I always felt it was really awkward when people did that.

They HAVE to know it turns people off and it makes me especially angry when they preface dropping a link to their work with some fake friendly banter.
